Another delay?

I smell another delay, January 6 is around the corner and we should already have a second trailer, any type of promotion...

reply

I guarantee there will be a new trailer with Blumhouse's Incarnate on December 2.

reply

Are you sure? I was thinking why they haven't start promoting the film, since it's only one and a half month before release.

reply

Honestly, similar to Incarnate, Amityville is probably going to be released into less than 1,500 theaters and just be put in theaters to try and make any money back before it's pulled from theaters in less than a month and put on Blu-ray and Netflix.

Movies like Incarnate, Amityville, and The Darkness are the reason Jason Blum decided to create the "Blumhouse Tilt" subdivision of "Blumhouse Productions". He has a very particular business model. Before he created the Tilt division of his company, and if Blum knew he had a stinker on his hands, he would just send it straight to Redbox/Netflix. Now, however, if he knows they have a stinker that they can at least use some of the more famous actors in it to market right, they'll release it into about 1,500 theaters instead of say 3,000 or so and try to make some money back.

reply

Is it going to every theater and be marketed properly?

reply

Well, yes it'll go to all 1,500 theaters (or maybe even less, just not full 2,500+ wide release). As far as marketing, it'll be the same caliber as the other BH Tilt releases like The Darkness and Incarnate.

reply

Is this going to do well at the box office?

reply

aha... where's the second trailer with Incarnate?

reply

Yeah, I work at a theater and when I saw the trailers that were delivered with Incarnate (without any sign of Amityville) I bit my tongue. Unless they are going to put out some ads and ramp up a TV ad campaign in the next thirty two days, I do think it is safe to say that they're gonna push the release once again. However, it isn't unheard of for movies to just silently be released into theaters. I guess we'll have to see...

reply

It's not getting to get pushed back. It is what it is.

reply

I'm sure that's what some people thought when the date was changed from January 2, 2015 to April 15, 2016. And then from April 15, 2016 to April 1, 2016. And then from April 1, 2016 to January 6, 2017. Lol.

We'll just have to see.

reply

June 2017...until they move it to 2018. Dimension Films always do this with their sequels.

reply

I'm confident the June 2017 release date will not be met and in May it will be pushed back again to January 2018. I really don't get why Dimension keeps pushing this back because no matter when it is released it will open below 10 million.

reply

Yeah. They delay this film so damn much, I don't even believe that the June 30th release date is final! I won't be surprised if they finally release this movie in the year 2019 or 2020.
