I love Mickey Rourke, but my god does he make some stupid decisions in his life. If you are offered a great part (which went to Woody Harrelson) by a director of 'In Bruges' while your career is already going down the toilet, you better take that goddamn role and make the best of it! You don't then just quit and call the director a jerk off and alienate anyone who wants to work with you. I mean seriously, what is wrong with this guy.

You pretty well spelled it put...Mickey Roarke is crazy. I also like the guy but he has proven difficult to work with for various reasons.

I'm glad he passed on it. Don't get me wrong I like some of Rourkes roles but I feel like he wouldn't be able to pull off the 'sillyness' and unstablility of Costello. I think Woody Harrelson nailed it! Who IMO is a way better actor than Mickey Rourke.

The obsession with his small dog seems like it was written for Mickey Rourke but I agree, Harrelson is better for the shading and humor of this role and a more versatile actor overall.

If Rourke was in it they would have to rename the movie to Eight Psycopaths :)
