I liked it. seems polarizing though [spoilers]

I'd heard a lot about this movie but thought it might be dumb. So maybe I went in with lower exceptions. But I just watched it and actually really liked it. Not that it's one of my favorites or anything...but definitely glad I finally decided to watch it...and while it had the dark humor, I also found it oddly moving at some parts.

Maybe I just liked Marty's insistence on giving it a hopeful/more peaceful ending instead of just going for all the kills and carnage and drama. I really liked that angle, that's what set it apart for me. And the very very ending ... while seems more ambiguous (maybe that's up to the viewer to decide...what will it be, dark or not)...I like to think still had a hint of that peaceful/hopeful/pardoning aspect...that's what had the final word.

But then I come on here and seeing so many people saying they hated it, it was boring, stupid, not funny. Okay lol. Maybe those people didn't like the more "hopeful" vibe it had through it and wanted more just straight up depravity, fun bad ass violence, etc. (Or they just thought it was dumb, lol.)

I liked it, I enjoyed the lead actors and all... and in particular I liked those rays of light in it against the depravity of the rest. Because something just being straight depraved and just glorifying violence without any hint of purpose or redemption, just isn't very interesting or appealing to me. Because life can and does suck and is full of dark and depraved things. but we should still keep the light and hope too. Who knows, maybe even psychopath Billy was drawn to that contrast at some level (in Marty). And it didn't end on a rosy happy vibe either so it wasn't totally whitewashed. Marty was still clearly damaged by everything that had happened, even if he was given that final moment of grace from Waits to top off his movie. So yeah, I liked it.

my two cents
