Adaptation ripoff

Am I the only person who has noticed that this is a ripoff of Adaptation?

Only in the way it incorporates the writing of a movie -- not *this* movie except accidentally -- into itself. And even so, it does it in a less-twisted way.

I liked this a lot, almost as much as I liked In Bruges.

--If they move, kill 'em!

I love In Bruges. This one not as much. But then again In Bruges gets better the more one sees it, so maybe this one does too. I can't wait to see his next film.

Not really, they are both just very meta, though Adaptation was much more successfully meta, but several films have done meta before adaptation. Sure they are both about a screenwriter who is writing the film as it is happening, but beyond that they are fairly different films.

I don't think it's a ripoff of "Adaptation", since the subject matter in the film is different. They share a similar syle (or mini-genre) though.

Hmm....actually I did get the impression that Adaptation was an influence, for several reasons: firstly, the tone is similar..humorous, yet emotive in parts. Secondly, the Rockwell character was a comic foil to Farrel's straight man role...much like Donald is to Charlie in Adaptation. Thirdly, the usage of a sixties song at similar points in the movie is identical...especially at the film's end.

Just forget you ever saw it. It's better that way.

Having similar attributes doesn't make it a ripoff. Plus, Adaptation borderline sucked whereas this movie was quite good.
