Am I the only one?
Seriously am I the only person who thought this would be a comedy? I saw the trailer and it looked funny.

BORING SUBTITLES.
shareSubtitles... ew. Why can't we just pretend everybody speaks English like they do in real life? That way I don't have to hurt my brain reading words.

I think he meant the other definition of boring, as in:
"The subtitles! They are BORING into my brain!!!"
Der...readin' is hard
shareI would say Django is funny in the same way
"There isn't a tighter shirt, we checked."
I wouldn't consider Inglorious Basterds a comedy although there were a couple humorous parts in it. I do think this film had enough humor to be considered a comedy though. The whole concept of the film in that someone would do all of this just to help his friend with a script is almost enough on it's own to be considered one.
shareBut, it was.
shareIt was a comedy. A dark comedy, but a comedy none the less. I laughed through the whole thing.
shareHAHAHA Woody Harrelson just killed an innocent old lady. HILARIOUS!
shareI think you're being sarcastic but I'll just say a movie doesn't have to be all one way. That's what makes this movie great to me, it was heartfelt and sad but also hilarious. So yeah, if you pick one of the saddest points in the movie it's not going to seem comedic.
shareSeven Psychopaths was comedic.
For those who have seen In Bruges particularly (McDonagh's film prior to Seven Psychopaths), it is apparent that the director has skill in navigating between the brilliantly humorous and the deadly serious. Seven Psychopaths does less navigation, but seriousness does exist.
But, certainly, comedic as well.
KW.

^Yes. Martin McDonagh is accomplished at black comedy and Seven Pyschopaths was no exception, it has some serious stuff in it, most definitely, but the theatre I saw it with was laughing raucously the whole way through (myself included).
shareI found this movie hilarious and the advertising for the movie appropriate.
However, I do agree with a previous poster that the advertising for Inglorious Basterds was misleading. I think the movie is great, but QT pushed it as something it wasn't.
Even the most primitive society has an innate respect for the insane.
For all you buffons, this is not The Hangover, thank God. One needs a brain for this.
Oz is everywhere at the moment. Perhaps he can provide you with one.
I'm curious, what do you mean by "black". Comedy? I've watched the film twice and I still feel as though, I missed something! I liked watching the film but I kept feeling as though I didn't catch the punch line!
Now, I understand there are many of you who loved the film and that's great, but I would love to love the film as well, I just have to get over not feeling like I missed something!
I also don't understand why blacks were such a consent subject topic in the film! Again this is me trying to better understand the film!
Wait what? The phrase "Black comedy" is old. The idea of humor mixed with dark subject matter is as old as written history. Think of it as akin to "gallows humor". And it has nothing to do with race.
"America isn't ready for a gay, mexican chicken sandwich"
Idiot alert.

highly-powered, crackerjack, brutally comedic film. paradoxically, it dangles at the end.
It is a very dark comedy, and in some ways almost goes into the absurd, and it's very much like QT. It was not the movie I thought it was based on the advertisement, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. The cast was brilliant and they handled their roles with precision. But once again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion--if you didn't enjoy, that's fine. You now know that it's one you wouldn't want to watch again.
shareI didn't think it was a bad movie at all I just didn't think it was a "comedy" per se which is what it seemed to be advertised as. I thought the actors were great especially Walken.
shareI also felt the actors did an great job in their roles. I'm just trying to better break down the film so I to can place it on my like list! If I don't like a film and many other do, I always want to break the film down and get to the nitty gritty, of the "why" is it I'm so indifferent of the film!
shareThe trailer only SUGGESTED it would be funny, and it did so mainly by playing suggestive music and showing the actors smiling. Almost anything can seem to be anything (funny, serious, etc.) with the right music and editing. Disclaimer: I haven't seen the movie yet, so I'll reserve my judgement on how funny/not funny it is.
There are no problems that cannot be solved with a can of brake clean and a lighter

BRILLIANT! TFS!
shareThis movie was so absurdly funny. It was definitely dark humor.
