Still unsure about this film
First off, I'm a big Martin McDonagh fan. Six Shooter was good, In Bruges is easily one of my favorite movies ever, and I've seen one of his plays.
When I saw this in theatres, I thought it was awesome. Same dialogue we've come to expect, script was good, and I thought the whole movie-within-a-movie thing was brilliant.
But nowadays, it just doesn't hold up for me. I totally get the point of the movie, but I think it's too meta and self-aware. It is a good movie, just nowhere near the quality of In Bruges and it's not something that holds good replay value for me. I also just think some elements of the plot are rather silly, but I guess that's what it was going for.
Anyone else feel the same way? I am looking forward to his new movie next year, because I like his work regardless.
