What people have to understand

Being called a slut is not the point.

Being cyberbullied is not the point.

"Choosing" not to let someone have power over you is not the point.

Lindsey (unfortunately) had the power of popularity. When she called Taylor a name, 50 people joined in on her side and ALSO called Taylor names. When Taylor called Lindsey a bitch only one person took her side.

People were afraid of Lindsey. It's that simple. Nobody wants to be the target of a 50-person attack. That's why Cheyenne stopped hanging with Taylor.

Taylor couldn't just choose not to let Lindsey have power over her. Lindsey had the power to peer-pressure her friends away. It's as simple as that. You could argue that Cheyenne must not have been a good friend if her friendship didn't mean enough to stand up to the peer pressure, and you might be right, but that's not the point.

I saw this all the time in my own high school. A verbal bully would make fun of some's physical defect, or mother's health problem blah blah blah and everyone standing there would laugh along. *I* think it was because they were afraid that if they said "Hey, that's not funny" that the verbal bully would turn his taunting wrath on him. Cowardice. Hypocrisy.

I have more to type but I'll have to finish it up later - hope this much made sense.

It's an interesting topic and it really needs to be discussed more often but the way this movie portrays it is laughable! Firstly, Lindsey is a joke. She's one of the most stereotypical bullies ever written. Seriously, do bullies really talk with a voice like that and say things like "My brother wears shoes like that, he's ten!"? How can anyone be seriously hurt by her? She's so cartoony and over-the-top, Biff was more a more believable bully than her! Also, I just don't understand why did Cheyenne ditch Taylor in the first place. Those girls were being bitches to her already before Taylor even signed up for Cliquesters! And once again, Lindsey is a joke and I can't believe that any normal human being could get their feelings seriously hurt by her. Plus, Cheyenne is a bitch! She encouraged Taylor to sign up for Cliquesters to meet cute boys but then when Taylor flirted with James, she throws it back at her and says that it's her fault when she encouraged her to do so in the first place! She & the rest of the trio are horrible protagonists!

Totally agree.

I honestly think that the movie would've been more effective if they left Lindsey the typical mean girl out of it and had Samantha be the antagonist following her storyline pretty much as is with a few tweeks. That way there's still the big reveal as to who is behind the cyberbullying.

actually, the school personnel should've taken action against those bullies and prevent that from happening, noone else had the power to stop mobbing.
