Your Top 5 Nazi-Mash-Up-Movies

I love these silly Nazi-movies that combine WWII with sci-fi and action. Here are my faves:

1. Frankenstein's Army
2. Outpost
3. Captain America: The First Avenger
4. Iron Sky
5. Dead Snow

I agree w/ that list... except for the last one...I hated dead snow... it was nice for a period...then it kinda sucked...

but nice fun :)

I wish we have more movies like that, Oh, by the way, I think there's a outpost 2 (Outpost Black Sun) I'm going to watch it soon :)

For me, there's only ONE...

THE KEEP

This is when Scott Glenn was scary hottie.

reply

The Keep is among my favorites, too. As you on this board are more familiar with this genre than I am, was The Keep the first of this type of film (Nazi/Supernatural/Horror)? Or have there been others before it? Would The Boys from Brazil be considered in the same genre? Was that the first then? Any insight into this or suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.

There was an old '50s B horror movie where the mad scientist was experimenting on heads in order to revive some frozen Nazis (leaders maybe?). Haven't seen it in 20 years. I'll have to try and find it.
****Found it. It was called the "Frozen Dead". Released in 1966 and starred Dana Andrews (he must have needed a paycheck). The movie's poster called the Nazis war criminals, so I would take that to mean leaders somewhere in the regime.

Also, believe it or not, a mainstream TV show in the '60s show had an episode along these lines. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. had one episode where Solo was captured and was strapped to a table. An IV was connected from his arm to a "body" on a table next to him. The body was covered of course and the name was never mentioned but all the not so subtle clues being dropped by the technicians was that it was Der Fuehrer. I think you did get to see arm in a uniform with an armband moved as the body started to come to life. But that was all and of course after escaping the whole lab goes up in flames.

Had it been the Twilight Zone I would have expected it but that was very unusual for a show such as that. There was a lot tabloid ink during that time that Hitler was still alive.

Thanks for replying! I'm actually surprised there were no Twilight Zone or Outer Limits episodes that did this, it would have indeed been apropos to their genre. Man From U.N.C.L.E. has been airing on MeTV, although I've missed a few episodes. Will keep an eye out for that one!

I went through the Man from UNCLE episode list and found it. It was just the fifth episode of the show to air. Obviously made an impression on me. I am surprised how well I remembered it.

20 Oct. 1964
The Deadly Games Affair
U.N.C.L.E. and Thrush race to find a Nazi scientist, who worked for Adolf Hitler, after an SS officer assigned to guard the scientist turns up dead. The scientist, who now teaches under the name Professor Amadeus, has Hitler in suspended animation. He needs a person with the same blood type of Hitler's; the Nazi leader will need a completely new blood supply to come out of suspended animation. Amadeus discovers that Solo is the right blood type...

Aw, damn, I missed that one, MeTV is up to Episode 12 Season 1 this Sunday. I got to watch the 1st 3 and then caught up again last Sunday. Oh, well, I don't know if they'll be airing all the seasons, but hopefully they'll repeat it eventually. Thanks for the info.

reply

Agreed. The Keep was very good!!! Was lucky there was a VHS copy at the video store I worked at in the early 2000's, it was "mysteriously" never returned...

Shock Waves is the best - underwater Nazi zombies
