Would have been better as a film

Having read and enjoyed the book, I was looking forward to this. However, it's taken ages to get to the good stuff - exploring different realities. Now I see there are nine episodes in the season in total and my enthusiasm is waning. The book has a much faster pace and is more involving.

Also, despite knowing the story, I've found it a little confusing in places. I think the two main realities should have been differentiated more clearly, e.g. by using a different colour tone. Having to look for small wounds on the main character's face to make sense of the plot isn't great. The book called them Jason and Jason2, which made the story much clearer.

I don't think a book to series adaptation is always a bad idea, but realistically a single season (8-10 episodes) ought to be enough for a single book. Some books are fine as a single movie, but usually there's some necessary streamlining and omissions to fit it into 2 hours.

The problem is that streamers struggle to resist the urge to drag things out -- stretch a book into more than one season, or tinker with the pacing if the book doesn't really have enough material to make 8 hours. At the end of the day, these end up being business decisions, not artistic decisions.

Agree completely. It’s just too slow. A solid 2-2:30 hour movie where things develop more quickly - like in Click or Inception - would be better. I’m thru 5 eps which is almost 5 hrs of viewing and it’s getting monotonous. Might not finish.
