What harbor?

Only got to watch this on TV this year. Enjoyed it as a guilty pleasure, but was annoyed by the many historical inaccuracies. Worst of all was giving Pompeii a harbor. It was at least one-half mile from the sea. Nearby
Herculaneum had a harbor. And the entire Roman fleet was birthed in a coastal city not too far away. Read Pliny the Younger on his uncle Pliny the Elder's investigation of the volcanic eruption. It caused his death.

You're quite right;it's by far the worst ever made movie on Pompeii! Moreover the special effects at some moments are the worst I've seen. For instance When the guards enter the amphitheater one can see that the background with the people is a matte painting and the guards are so badly superimposed on the picture that they seem like floating one foot above the ground where they walk. I had really the biggest laugh seeing that. The acting is poor, the dialog stupid... I saw it on youtube and that was quite enough. As for the town itself, there are no hills or cliffs in Pompeii it is totally flat. Those guys should have visited the site before committing such nonsense. I've been there at least ten times. Pompeii did have a harbour. I was there last week on holiday and saw it myself - the loopholes used to tie up mooring boats are still there today. 2000 years ago the coastline was alot further inland than where it currently is now. Also worth pointing out that the film is extremely accurate in the layout and look of the city, based on the extremely well preserved ruins.

Actually it wasn't on the Harbor but it did have canals for boats to move up and down from Town to the harbor area but it didn't have a true Harbor Herculaneum did and Herculaneum is the city that more closely matches the positions and descriptions in the movie not Pompeii
