Can we all agree on one thing.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (aka Atticus) was the best thing about this movie. I mean sure this movie is very mediocre. But Atticus comes close to making it worth while.

Yeah. It was a sad moment in that one scene where he and Milo are talking in their cell the night before that big gladiator match. The ground rumbles, you see Atticus' little sculpture topple over and you can tell part of him knows he'll never leave Pompeii alive.

But did they have to name him after the first black man in America to be shot by the police for threatening them with a cane after throwing ice chunks and rocks

I figured maybe he was named after Atticus Finch of To Kill a Mockingbird? Regardless, I agree with the OP. Atticus made this movie. I like a good love story and all, but the relationship between Atticus and Milo was much more touching to me than the one between Milo and Cassia.

'Atticus' is an old Roman name. It's also latin for 'elegant'.

He was definitely the only good thing about the movie. The guy is fantastic in every role I've seen him in.

I thought the only truly good thing about this movie was the horse. But Atticus was OK, I guess...
