The funniest thing about this movie is this message board.

This movie is beeped up in so many ways. But, that is the beauty of the movie. It's a rorschach test. What you see in the splatters of blood says a lot about your personality, perhaps even revealing some deep seated issues you may have. Some people think the movie glorifies violence. I see the opposite I think we are shown how violence can't be a solution to dealing with mean people (Frank's primary target) or people that have "terrible" taste (Roxy's primary target) many people have violent fantasies about what to do to people who violate their personal code of conduct and that's just how people are we just don't go and do violent things when confronted with gum snappers, line cutters, loud obnoxious people in public places, and people that spoil their kids rotten.

The movie is also like a house of mirrors. The main characters decry modern society and use violent means in an attempt to eliminate the bad elements all the while not seeing that they are that which they hate. The viewer agrees with some of the points the character makes all the while not seeing that which makes them part of the problem. We clamor for bread and circus's yet when we get it the bread fails to satisfy our hunger and the circus fails to entertain. We look for meaning in dialog that isn't meant to have meaning and we look for entertainment in things that aren't meant to be entertaining. Reality tv isn't the problem or even a problem it's a symptom of a society that has become so isolated that our only way of feeling connected to a community is to watch pseudo lives on television.

And then there are the posters making outrageous unsubstantiated claims. The claims come from both sides of the spectrum that the people with the opposing view are the ones that Frank would shoot. We really can't claim that Franks targets are ubiquitous. Frank never asked the political leanings of his targets. I noticed many leaned right, but that isn't why Frank targeted them. Frank could have just as easily targeted left leaning people with those same traits, being loud and mean there are examples of those traits on both sides of the political spectrum. A prime example of Frank not caring at all about politics is the shooting in the theater none of those people had a soapbox to stand on and announce their political stance, yet they were shot. Roxy was a bit easier to figure out she didn't like people who were different from her so basically she just wanted to kill everyone starting with people who she had strong disagreements with then presumably she would get around to killing people who high five each other.

Personally I didn't find much to recommend in this movie. But, I highly recommend watching it then hanging out on the message boards to see the hilarity of people arguing about what it all means.
