Some stuff in the film was either hypocritical or just wrong

I liked the movie don't get me wrong, but there were a few things about the movie that bothered me. First off, the whole movie felt like a glimpse into the mind of some grumpy narcissistic/nostalgic divorced guy in his 40's who looks back at his own generation with rose colored glasses. Yeah, this generation can get a little *beep* up, but so did the many generations before us.

It's clear that the two characters, roxy and frank support homosexuality but weren't the past generations before us even more harsh towards people like this? Roxy came off as the typical angst-filled teenager who thought they were born in the wrong time. I've met several people in their 40's telling me that they felt the exact same way in their age. I agree with what they're saying about reality shows, social media, and all that but I don't think these things are so exclusive in this generation. The only difference is that we have social networking(which is actually a double edged sword since there are good and bad things that come from it).

His pedophile speech was funny, but when he mentioned woody Allen I actually started getting annoyed. Woody Allen did NOT date an underaged girl. She was NOT related to him, this is a common, yet uneducated misconception. Soon-Yi was the daughter of Mia Farrow. Mia Farrow and Woody were NEVER married, they never even lived with each other. Soon-Yi wasn't living with her mother during the time that woody Allen was dating Mia farrow. When Mia and Woody broke up she complained that he never spent time with her kids, which led to him meeting Soon-Yi who was now 18. They didn't start dating until she was 18 so Frank's retarded speech about Woody Allen is completely ironic to me.

He spends so much time hating uneducated Americans but he doesn't even have time to think about his own generation. In my opinion, it's not our generation that's misguided, it's society as a whole. There's a lot of bad, but there's also some good. That said, it was an enjoyable movie. The cast did great, and I'd actually love to see more of them! (:

Why are you assuming his view of things was being touted as right?

reply

Exactly! I kinda thought this was the point of the movie?

I don't think these people were particularly being touted as heroes.

Even if you agreed with some of their opinions, it doesn't mean they were justified in going round killing people. Or that there wasn't some hypocrisy in what they did. (Murderers condemning others for being bad.)

If you watched the movie Super, it has similar themes. But they go through greater lengths to prove that the main characters are insane rather than righteous.

Well, he was an unrepentant murderer so it's to be expected that his world view would be a bit twisted...
