Why did he never go after a liberal group of celebrity? It was liberal PC'ness that got him fired from his job. Instead of a Rush Limbaugh type why not a Keith Olbermann type? He is every bit as vile as Rush, far more hate fueled. He could still take out the Westboro Church and it would add balance and make the movie far less political.
I think oddly.. and I really don't know why this is. But in the larger media, oddly. The more liberal voices out there aren't the loud and really obnoxious ones that seem to reside sole with the right side of the aisle. Even Mahr who can yell and go off on a tangent, can more often be seen being very sensible and defending his views. And while he as being the most extreme I can think of never seems to get as vile and nasty as the right.
I can't explain it. Or know why, but you watch Rush, or even O'Reilley I think a vein or something is going to pop in their head sometimes. So while the right has this rogues gallery of just well known loud mouths, politically they were just the easier target to go after.
Although.. I think seeing Frank gun down some granola eating hippies shaming people about their cars while driving a Prius, or their all natural hemp bags would have been funny. Those are the annoying caricatures of the left... Seems they missed their chance with that though, although South Park went after them in their episode "Smug Alert".
I couldn't disagree more. Look at how the left treated Sarah Palin (and her minor daughter). The View does nothing but constantly attack the right. The only reason that Limbaugh and O'Reily seem vicious is because the saying thing contrary to most of the media.
Limbaugh in particular does not make person attack. She he will have a funny bit about something someone said like the song "In a Yugo" that parodies Elvis' "In the Ghetto". But most of his commentary is policy based.
They treated Sarah Palin the way they did because her "I'm just a hockey mom from Alaska running for president" shtick got old. I don't want a woman who believes that humans were riding dinosaurs around 6,000 years ago when that's objectively false to have access to the nuclear launch codes. That's just insanity.

Sarah Palin was in a position of authority and was running to be the second most powerful and influential person in the country. Unfortunately, she's kind of an idiot. I think the criticism against her, although harsh and upsetting from her perspective, was absolutely necessary under the circumstance. She wasn't right for the job and most people realized that, even if she didn't.

According to Fox fans Hollywood is liberal and I guess that would put American Superstarrs (American Idol) in that category. Oh, and shoot people who say "namaste". How many people who cling on to right wing politics use the term "namaste". Oh and they also made a comment about people who are into crystals, referencing new ager's.

This Movie came out around the time of the Tea Party rallies with all the vile rightwingers coming out in force with their nativist, regressive nonsense.
There is no counterpart on the liberal side. That is just playing into false equivalence.
