Am I One Of The Few People Who Actually Liked The Whole Movie?

7+ rating on IMDB yet this board seems to almost universally pan the movie. What gives?

Butthurt Teabaggers flocked over here to spastically defend their gimp clique that they perceive this film targets. The same reason so many Neo-Nazis flock to the Bad Ass (2012) board to slam the film because they believe a film with a black antagonist is "anti-white propaganda".

That's what gives.

I have a feeling the moderators on here are a similar flavor of aforementioned spazzes because I was about to come back after months of forgetting to continue a previous discussion with one of the obsessive confrontational losers that came to share their important view of how this film is CALMUNIST HIPPEH PRAWPAGANDA. No it's just people on any side of the spectrum that are tried of hollywierd putting out 'edgy' risque films that aren't in fact all that risque at all.

If the victims in this film were predominately non white, non male, non Christian and non conservative, it would be considered politically incorrect.

It reminds me of Tarantino films. He acts like he's making envelope pushing movies, but he's not because in all his films the woman or the non white man is the victor in some way or another. Therefore it's ok to use the word *beep* a lot because in the end the black character survives or wins. Or it's ok to show violence against women at the start, because by the end of the film, a woman has taken revenge on all the men.

It comes to a head in this film, because these are precisely the same regurgitated political narratives that weave their way throughout our day to day media and entertainment. If the characters in the movie wanted to kill off anyone, it would be people whom feed and enable this narrative simply because it's trendy.

Instead they miss the mark and attack all the people that no one cares to see dead, because it's the safe thing to do.

The is the story and concept is awesome, but the content and politics make it a four instead of what could be an eight.

I genuinely liked it. Because it didn't take itself too seriously, it didn't feel forced or heavy-handed at all.

I agree 100%.

One of my pet peeves in movies is when the quirky girl initiates contact with the creepy guy. She nearly ruined the film for me.

reply

True.

That was a stupid part of the script and my biggest dislike of it.

Because .... why? Why would a high school kid from a regular suburban family, as far as we know, have this urge to cling on to the "creepy guy" and go on a killing spree. Why did she see no other future for herself? This was a bit troublesome.

Ironically enough, she was no different than the idiot making a fool of himself on American Superstarrs. Maybe that was the point. She wanted the same televised fame as the dreadful singing fool.

No I think plenty of teenagers are alienated. I certainly was at that age. Being in the 'out group' at school is pretty tough.

There's a certain type of disaffected female teen that seems to have a lot in common with a certain type of disaffected middle aged man. See "Ghost World" for another instance, or OKCupid for some real-world examples.

In one sense she offers hope for the future - not all young people are airheads. But also I guess there's the understated platonic romance between them which is one of the drivers of the movie.

I used to want to change the world. Now I just want to leave the room with a little dignity.

Only 20 minutes into it, and I'm enjoying it, but then again, I'm not an American, so it doesn't offend me, I don't see the film as some kind of propaganda.
Although I like the way that everyone hates it because it's "fascist", that is giving me a giggle.

I liked this film. So does my friend. I loaned it to him and he's watched it more times then I have

reply

I liked it. it was kind of a cross between "Falling Down" and "natural Born Killers".
I think people who are critical of Frank don't really get the movie

reply

Yes, i think so, there aré a lot of people who deserve to die

I liked the whole movie. I think the rating on IMDB is very accurate.

There were things I didn't like of course, but over all it was decent.

What a coincidence just watched the DVD of FALLING DOWN last week with my grandson and then caught God Bless America on Netflix today.

I enjoyed both and was amused at the folks who panned it, thinking it was an instructional manual. It was satire - and every line and scene ran true to life as we know it. Somebody in these comments thought that there were innocent folks being shot for no reason. I thought the script called for explicit reasons for each shooting, not a random idea in it. Congrats to Bobcat for his timely and thought provoking satire.

The story line is perfectly written. The music is incredible and spot on. The only thing missing was something late 70s from UFO! That would of sealed the deal! I give this movie a 9. And I am not a liberal but I don't let politics color my view of art. I am also from upstate NY!

This Kids by UFO would have been perfect!
