I wonder why is that Rico does not talk.

That's just his thing I guess. His character is a bit of a lunatic, so I guess the grunt-talk that he does matches his lunacy. Plus swallowing all that stuff can't be good for the vocal cords.

i think another more appropriate question is how does he manage to eat such crazy stuff and not be full/ ill/ dead.

Maybe its cause of all that stuff he swallows his vocal cords are severely damaged.
