Anyone else actually ENJOY this?

I see a lot of complaints about the movie. I enjoyed it quite a bit myself. Sure, some of the decisions made in the movie were stupid, but that's what humans do when they get emotional. I thought the plot was quite realistic.

The ending made the characters seem a bit- out of character- but the last line made it totally worth it in my opinion.

What made me attach to Jordan so much was the idea of being an operator and witnessing the "bad" part of humanity every day, meanwhile everyone else goes about their day with their limited perception of the world. Every time you pick up the phone, you have no clue what you will hear. You have no idea how the situation will resolve, or if it will at all.

Excellent thought-provoking film.

Halle's still got it at 46.

I actually Enjoyed this film, even the ending which many are calling lackluster.

Halle was great, and my only problem with this film was the ending, I enjoyed it, but the 1 problem I had with it was they just closed the door,

I think they should have showed his body rotting or done a "6 months later" scene then show his rotted corpse for a few seconds then end the movie...

possibly.. with police finding his body and all the evidence of the other girls in there too, and Halle's character grinning/smiling when this news is brought to her attention (either by collegue/boss/cop bf/on the news as a special report)

That would make the ending even more appalling than it was.

I thought it was an unexpectedly, entertaining movie. Many, many, many years ago I worked as a police dispatcher and yes it does give one a decidedly pessimistic insight into humanity. As far as the ending goes. So many go free, such as George Zimmerman and OJ Simpson, and remember this guy killed several girls and beat a man with a shovel and stabbed him with a screwdriver and set another guy on fire to burn alive. Nope, no regrets with him starving to death which is a less horrible death. Personally they should have just killed him and ended it. Maybe he figured a way out or someone found him, I hear "The Call 2" calling.

I can always tell a Liberal from someone who knows better. Liberals think George Zimmerman was not justified in killing the man who was trying his best to kill him!

What beat him to death with a hoodie and a candy bar?

I enjoyed it until the part where Jordan went investigating solo, that was when the movie took a turn into cliche thriller and became boring.

Pretty good film overall with a great performance by Halle Berry, and Abigail Breslin in a bra and jeans was pretty HOT! 7/10

Look at the night sky, where does it end?

I thought it was pretty good up until the ending. I get that Jordan felt responsible for the first girl's death and needed to look around to find Casey, but she should have seriously called the police as soon as she found the cell phone/trap door. I realize that it probably would have been too late for Casey, but what if she had died too?

Then it got even worse when they decided to tie him up in that chair and leave him stranded to die. I felt like it almost didn't make them any better. They are supposed to be the good guys. Call the police and let the guy rot in jail. Plus, the police would question Casey on how she escaped and where she was. Do think she can really get away with "I don't know".

I'm beginning to think that I'm the only one who saw her trying to do that...

She did yes but she dropped her phone, and the instead of getting the phone back and going back up the ladder to phone them she goes into the underground place.

Yes I enjoyed the film up until this moment but even then I could suspend my disbelief as it is a movie but when they decided to just tie him up I thought that was just stupid. The police wont get to see any of the other evidence. Also if he does end up getting out and found or just found down there then Jordan and the girl could be in trouble with the police. Stupid move.

I'm sure going back up the ladder to call someone was the original intention once she realized she couldn't get a signal in the hole, but she heard the girl crying only after she was already down there.

I suppose the director could have had her just drive out there, find the trap door, then go down and save the girl Rambo-style, but I'm glad he didn't. Instead, he chose to create a realistic chain of events that explains how and why she was down there to begin with. Going by many of the comments on this board, it's things like this that a lot of people seem to have missed throughout the entire movie.

Yep. Good movie. And Jordan was extra cute.

Aside from the fact that it pretty much starts off with a really dumb mistake on the part of the kidnapper (letting the girl keep her phone), I enjoyed the suspense of the chase and seeing what they would try to do to get her help. It's not a great film but it was entertaining enough.

he didn't let her keep her phone, HER phone was broken when she dropped it after he almost hit her with his car and he left it behind in the parking lot.

why would he ever think she had a 2nd phone?

reply

I did - ending and all. Abigail Breslin was wonderful. Had my heart pounding with intense suspense almost from the get-go.
