After seeing this, I can honestly say Cubs fans...

....deserve to see their team go another 100 years without a World Series title. Heck, 200 years.

Hey Cubs fans, you ever consider the fact you lost because the 2003 Marlins were a beast of the team? Just check out the Marlins' Game 3 and 4 of the NLDS against the Giants, or Game 4 of the World Series against the Yankees. That team never got demoralized by any deficit.

Stop blaming a fan for an innocent mistake and cop to the fact that you were beat by the better team.

reply

They are pathetic and I hope that if by some chance they do get to a World Series, they lose every time.

reply

It is simply wrong to label all Cubs fans as pathetic because of your reaction to this documentary and because of the actions of some Cubs fans. It is NOT pathetic to be loyal to a team or a cause that goes down to defeat time after time and year after year. Loyalty, persistence and perseverance in the face of defeat and heartbreak is considered admirable and commendable by right thinking people although not necessarily by those who belong to opposing causes or who are fans of opposing teams which you guys clearly must be.

More importantly, Cubs "fans": Why aren't you making a bigger deal about the fact you had a 3-1 series lead? Did Bartman have anything to do with Game 5 or Game 7? No way.

The error by the shortstop was way worse than Bartman's (possible) interference. If he fields that ball the inning is over

I'm glad this docue addressed what had actually happened. I always thought Steve Bartman incident was a pathetic excuse for 100 years of miserable failure. As a fan, you try to grab a ball when it's coming at you not to try to avoid it thinking the outfielder might catch the ball. In the end, Bartman didn't reach over the fence to grab it. Those dumb Cubs fans blaming Bartman would have done the same thing I'm sure.

It's the Cubs who choked, plane and simple.

reply

I don't blame Bartman (he wasn't the only one reaching for the ball) but I do think there may be something to the Cubs curse

On a general note, I think fans sitting close to the field should try to avoid trying to catch the ball when a play might be made by a fielder.

That reaction would have come from ANY team's fanbase.

I'm with you, I love watching the Cubs lose and always will after the Bartman incident. And the a-holes were everywhere, my goodness Dusty Baker goes off on some rant about him being a Marlins fan after his team so horribly failed to perform. And the news guy idiot with his business card, looking for a scoop. On and on and on.

What people need to take into account is that during playoff games, it is not all "die-hards" that are in attendance. More often than not, good amoutn of the crowd is bandwagoners who can easily shell out the $500-$1000 to get seats to the game.

Considering the generalized hate being tossed around, I'd say it's a fair assumption that you guys are White Sox fans. You guys honestly don't believe that all of the crowd that showed up to games in the WS were ACTUAL White Sox fans, do you? I'm willing to bet if the roles were reserved & that happened at the Cell in an important inning of the ALDS, the majority of "fans" would react the EXACT same way that the "(Insert favorite derogatory term here) Cub fans" did.

There are moron, meatball fans everywhere. To quote Bill Murray: "People like Blood Sausage. People are morons."

“We all pay for life with death, so everything in between should be free.”

I'm not a Cubs fan, but I've grown up around a lot of them. I would say most of them are pretty good baseball fans. But I have to agree they were not on their best behavior that night. Humanity itself was poorly represented that night, not just Cub fans.

Bartman didn't give up eight runs.
