Before the day of the confession, when he had to stay at his attorney's home, how was he able to go for a full blown week of no drinking and remain healthy? With the excessive amount of booze he consumed, it's a 100% chance that he'd be experiencing DT's, seizures, and possibly life-threatening conditions.

They skipped through those 8 days. If they showed them, he would probably be in very bad shape for most of them. But after 8 days the symptoms are very diminished, if any are left at all.
