Yes *Camille* was offered a promotion to Paris. But the OP wants to know the reason why the actor, Sara Martins, decided to leave the show (as would I).
Florence is a commendable replacement for Camille, and is uncannily similar, but with Camille there was the wonderful sexual tension with Humphrey, that he obviously doesn't feel for Florence.
Read loads of reports of why Sara left the show, but a radio interview I heard around the time the news broke explained it best I think. In the interview she said she was offered a part in a French TV show and asked to be released from filming early as they clashed.
The shows producer then said that if she missed more than a couple of episodes they would have to replace her, and it was only then that she decided she wasn't coming back even though the producer didn't want to kill her character off (as they did with Richard)as the filming schedule was too long and she wanted to work more in France where she is best known.
Have tried to find the interview online, but sadly cant at the moment.
