Likeable characters, nice locale but..

...after the first couple of episodes, the rest of the cast are just props. Especially Camille, who's supposed to be an experienced and smart detective, but she's delegated to the role of following Poole around and rolling her eyeballs or looking confused.

I get that Poole is main character and he's supposed to solve things but I don't think everyone else needs to be so utterly in the dark all the time.

reply

Exactly. The formula of detective shows ruins the cast.

reply

not everyone can be the star.

Camille is Poole's smart Watson, making her own contributions and inspiring him as cases unfold. She also provides sexual chemistry, which is widely despised today but was once regarded as acceptable. She is a mature, intelligent young woman who communicates without vocal fry or upspeak, a rarity today. There is nothing marginal or superfluous about her; she is a strong character.

reply

Not entirely true. Camille is more athletic than he is and provides more action. The other two provide comic relief.
