What will they do with Humphrey?

So, what do you speculate the writers will do with Humphrey? I know the show is fine by itself without a romantic angle, but I really miss the Humphrey who was in love with Camille. It added a little spice to the plot. I also figure it must be strange being at Catherine's and seeing Camille's mother every day without her there. What do you all think the end game will be?

Camille's replacement is young and attractive for a reason. Humph's next love interest.

Things could get very uncomfortable in the office if any such romance goes pear-shaped!

Hmm, I just feel like he kind of ignores her.

Yeah, I thought that too. When Richard Poole was killed off and Humphrey Goodman brought in as the new DI, I thought surely that the producers would work the show towards a romance between Humphrey and the new girl, Florence Cassel (played by Josephine Joubert). So far, it hasn't happened. I'm at episode 5.1 and so far, no hints of passion between them.

But "Death in Paradise" is still a young show. There is plenty of time for something to develop between them, and we should not be impatient.

Cheers,

He'll get murdered too.

Poole comes in to replace the murdered detective.
Humphrey comes in to replace the murdered detective.

Do you see the pattern? It can be like Dr Who, introduce a new detective each time

No doubt Richard and Camille had a romantic edge and comedic timing that was lively and enjoyable to watch and remains encapsulated as a series highlight.

Humphrey's detective marks the beginning of a new era. Now that Humphrey is single and Camille has disappeared from his life, he seems ready to engage in stories that involve any number of leading ladies with lots of possible plots twists and turns. Season 5's Humph is no longer the bumbling inept (though brilliant) detective... He seems more sure of himself and as such could step into a personae a bit more serious though still lighthearted with leading man qualities... Still noble and good-hearted, fun-loving but with these attributes tested by romantic entanglements.. (This kept fans of the Morse series rivited and even today we have montages of the women in Morse's life; Humph could possibily travel this route in coming episodes).
Florence is great and a stabilizing influence in Humph's life as is Duane, JP, the Commissioner. She is the trusty side-kick, the loyal colleague, and good friend who could have her own romantic entanglements along the way. JP's life could pickup where Fidel's left off and Duane could do a complete about face and fall head-over-heels for a wonderful woman (Catherine????). The Commissioner could face some political intrigues and reveal a deep dark past. Of course Harry the lizard remains a fixture always.
The icing on the cake? A cameo or two from Camille!!! THAT'S a show to glue me to my seat!
I say: Bring it on!!

Dwayne and Catherine would be an interesting pairing; she would want/need to keep him on the straight and narrow. Perhaps a steady diet of her cooking at home would do the trick.
