Change of Cinematographer

I used to enjoy Death in Paradise and was really looking forward to season 5 but something has changed in the dynamic of the way it's filmed. Those silly fish eye flash backs and change of angle is very distracting. Also the loss of major characters over the last 3 seasons makes a season 6 in my opionion not viable. What a shame

its just as good now as it ever was.cast changes haven't made any difference.plenty more series to come I think.

I've really enjoyed all the previous series, Ben miller, Camille, Fidel, and now the new series, January 2016, and all I can say is, it's just as good, if not better, I like Humphrey and the new lady detective is very nice, the episode we watched tonight, Cedrick and a cover up between close friends, was one of the best episodes ever. Hope it carries on...

I agree with the previous replies - great writing, acting and direction have ensured that despite drastic cast changes over time, the show remains just as fresh, funny and appealing as ever. The only thing I really miss is Camille being the potential love interest for Humphrey. But in S5 even that has been addressed in some way (not wishing to give away spoilers).

And as for the cinematography - I think it's nothing short of magnificent. But then, in such a beautiful part of the world, it would be hard for it not to be!

I haven't noticed any difference in cinematography. The loss of Richard, Camille & Fidel was hard, & made series 3 & 4 hard to watch for me, but I feel the cast has finally gelled in series 5.

I still miss the originals, but I'm now enjoying the new cast.

reply

yes, a good gel.
