People who are outraged about this series are missing the point.

Tom Six is a film satirist. If you take anything from these films literally, you're an idiot. He's brilliant.

reply

I agree. The sad thing is there are a hell of a lot of idiots out there.

reply

He's brilliant.

HAHAHAHAHAAHAAHAHAHA yeah right ,it seems like you take the man to seriously your the idiot just like he is .That's why he's able to make a 3rd film because of idiots like yourself willing to hold high like its some great piece work when its just sh@t on a stick.

+1

also i hope he is kept away from the public.

I doubt it was because of people that he puts out these films. The revenue generated by these movies compared to the budget is way off. Tom Six should be in debt by now.

Reminder: The O.C. resets to its first episode on POP network April 1 @ 2 p.m. EST

So what's the satire?

I am not going to be as silly as to say that these films succeed on every level, but part of the thrill of artistry (and attempted artistry) is watching people push boundaries and creating something we've never seen before.

The Human Centipede, at least in its premise, was actually something we'd never seen before, and it permeated pop culture ridiculously thoroughly, considering how few people actually saw it. The idea is bold and thoroughly disgusting and instantly memorable. And the film itself really is not a bad film at all. In fact, for gross-out body-horror, it's well-made. I enjoyed watching it, was engrossed in the story, and most definitely took away quite a lot of indelible images with me.

Of course, the flip side of this is that a lot of people will argue that Tom Six is beating a dead horse by making three of these movies. But I disagree. The movies are sufficiently different in setting & in mood that I think this series is more like a triptych centered around a repeated theme, rather than a cash grab.

Tom Six is obviously not going for dead serious, straight-up horror with these films. But I don't think he's necessarily trying to satirize anything specific, either. I think he's having a hell of a lot of fun, getting absorbed in his artwork, and putting it out there for us to see. Again, these films are nowhere near perfect, but it's obvious Tom Six is enjoying the process of making them, and it really shows.

This is by far the most accurate description of this man's work. And I agree with you 100%.

reply

Shock for the sake of it isn't really brilliant.

Edit: Could you help me understand better what the satire is? Sorry not trying to argue with you I've just never seen the appeal of these films. I've seen the second and most of the first and didn't really see anything that interested me all that much. This one looks *beep* crazy I don't know if I can watch it, 2 pushed the boundary of what I'm willing to watch. Or is Pushing boundaries the point idk I just don't get the films I guess.

reply

the satire of the 3th is the american prison system
and the first 2 are a setup too that and are portayed as films in the 3th ''real '' universe

reply

I'm not outraged but the premise is disgusting. I can handle gore and torture but even thinking about this makes me wanna throw up.
