I've never read it, but from what a friend of mine has and he says that while Megan is a little too young for the part (her character in the novel has a teenage daughter, which I'm assuming will be changed for the film) she fits the description perfectly and is a great choice.

They always gotta make 'em younger. I think the film looks interesting so far though.

The actress who plays her child was born in 1999,which is just 13 years younger than Megan so this may be part of the plot.

The novel covers about 15 years. Manson murders through early LA punk scene. The reality of the Soledad character is questionable. Soledad Miranda's ghost?

reply

I have. The character is based on late Spanish actress Soledad Miranda. Mostly just needs to be sexy and mysterious. Franco scares me more because Vikar should be physically intimidating. The novel is quite surreal at times but it might be hard to keep that in a screenplay. Great novel - some very funny scenes.

reply

Interesting. The description reads like a drama but the cast is all comedians. Hopefully her character has more complexity and depth than just being sexy and mysterious though.

reply

The overall tone is serious with several very funny skit like scenes. It is Vikar's story, the Soledad character is important but unlikely to have major screen time.

Can anyone tell me more about Soledad miranda in the book?

reply

I'm halfway through the book and I think she's a good representation.

reply

It's a good book, I think she'll work in an adaptation of it.
