Do you think this concept could be brought up to Oscar level?
First of all, I loved it, I enjoyed it the way it is. But it clearly hasn't played out its entire potential. Which begs the question, if the movie academy and industry in the whole could take zombie seriously, which they obviously don't at the present, do you think the same concept of this film could be elevated to Academy Award level by better direction, better acting, better...everything?
For me, the only moment that truly came to that level is the "kiss" scene in the end. And let's be honest, Arnold is great here, but he's not the best man for the role. His casting here attracts audiences, but also takes away some seriousness from the movie and might be very misleading. Because...well it's a zombie movie with Arnold!
