Arnold is harming the average score of this movie.

But not in the most common way. His performance was great. He was very good in this film. He conveyed the character perfectly.

But what is happening is that many of his fans were expecting to see him cleaving zombies left and right (many obviously didn't read about what this movie was). And then they got this sort of slow paced drama about family bonds, disease and how society deals with the hopeless contagious sick.

Of course this will result in people coming here and bashing the movie and giving it a poor score. This was marketed to the wrong crowd. And it shows, both in ratings and reviews.

Yep a lot of people expecting a zombie movie would have been disappointed by this film and thence attack it's rating (it deserves to be in the 6's imho).

Without arnold, score of this movie would be somewhere between 1. With arnold, I gave it a 4.
It's not that we expect aombie bashing movie. It's that this movie does not have a good story, including endong.

This is probably going to be one of those movies that will age well and be reviewed better with age. To me it seems to be the case that this movie is one of those where actors are associated either with bloodbaths or comedy play an "out of character" role.

One example I can think of is Steve Carell when I saw him in movie Dan in Real Life and to a lesser extent Little Miss Sunshine because it was a serious movie presented in a whimsical way.
Maybe Will Ferrel(Farell?) in Stranger Than Fuction.

I agree. I honestly have never seen Arnold act as good as he does in this. The guy can truly act in a thoughtful and dramatic way. he is 100 times better than I would've ever thought. He portrayed the perfect rough, loving and stoic father who will do anything for his little girl.

I think people honestly thought they were going to see the terminator mowing zombies down by the 100's. Not an actor giving the best performance of his career.
