The Ending...

No way I'd ever hate on this movie. I knew what I was getting going in.

Other threads about the ending seem like they missed the big picture. They talk of the zombie suicide... But they missed a piece...

See, I kept thinking it was strange that he picked up one shotgun shell for a double barrel shotgun. Then the zombie suicide follows.

But why? Why does he pick up the one shotgun shell... Then it came to me at midnight while lying in bed... He himself committed suicide.

reply

Wait--are you saying Wade committed suicide before his daughter sniffed him, or AFTER she jumped off the roof?

I was too busy marveling at the unexpected way her demise came, and how it was an interesting twist that you never really see a zombie go out of its way to attack a human this whole movie. There's a lot more to sit on than people are giving the movie credit for.

I don't think he committed suicide. That would just be too selfish of him considering he had 2 other children he needs to look after.

I think he picked up the shell to get ready to kill Maggie when it came down to it, but Maggie spared her father the burden and killed herself instead.

Yes exactly.

I think I can save you. But who's going to save me?

reply

Before his daughter sniffed him?
She kissed him on the forehead.

reply

Although the idea is good, but like others said, it would not be right since he has 2 other children

Clark: Jonathan Kent; isn't it a little past your bedtime?

Wow, alot of strange responses here. Of course I dont mean he committed suicide before she sniffed him. He got up after she sniffed him. Crazy someone even asked that.

He shot himself after she made the big jump. The movie doesn't show it. Yes, it's very selfish to commit suicide at any point in your life. There's somebody who loves you and needs you. Still,it Happens everyday.

And those clinging to the theory that he didn't pull the trigger... Then explain why he picked up on shell? He certainly didn't pick it up to shoot her. He's already showed that he would never hurt her. He would lock her up in the basement before killing maggie. Sorry guys, RIP Wade.

"Wrong... Boom!" You like that? Thats an arnold quote for you. You must of forgot that he emptied the shotgun because he would never shoot her. So, if the shell wasnt meant for her then it was for himself. Easy-peasy. RIP Wade.

Did you just try to burn me because you disagreed with how I interpreted the end of the movie? Wow, that was a wierd response that made no sense. Don't feel bad. A lot of people have absolutely no talent. Maybe stick to harrassing people on youtube because the power of your troll is weak sausage son.

Holy crap, another crazy nonsensical response. Do you ever wonder if you're retarded and everyone is just playing along? Think about it...

WTF??? Again a response that makes no sense. Is that the theme you were going for? You said I was pushing religion of some crap which makes no sense but now you're telling me that god be with me??? Really??? If I had a nickel for every stupid thing you've said... Then I'd have a sock full of nickels to beat you with... I'd say "God be with you" but that's really stupid and God's probably just as annoyed with you as I am.

Nah, wade would never hurt her. That was clear. If he could hurt her, the shotgun would of been loaded. Case Closed. RIP Wade.

This was by faaaaaaarrrr..... The best answer of the whole thread.

See, nobody remembered that he dropped the shell in the struggle with maggie. Nobody came up with that answer except you. Case... Re-Opened.

Now that makes sense and I enjoy things that make sense. I'm still not 100% covinced that the shell was for Maggie because I can't see him hurting her. It seems like he would be like his neighbor who couldn't put her family down. Also, before she "sniffed/kissed" him, his hand moved which meant that he was going to take the risk of death before he would hurt her. He was wide awake and could of taken her down with extreme prejudice.

After your answer with a logical explanation of "the shell," I'm stuck at 50/50. I guess I just enjoy a movie where everybody dies at the end.

reply

why? Why does he pick up the one shotgun shell

He picked up the shell and loaded the shotgun so he could put a end to Maggie's suffering, but he did not know she would kill her self, no way would Wade think about ending is own life, Wade loved Maggie but he also loves is wife and is 2 other kids.
