I'll give you that: it's an interesting way of watching movies. But I don't think I could watch movies like you (if I understood right, in installments).
Movies are fairly short works of fiction. The average length might be what, 100 minutes? I mean, unless you have an excellent memory, you'll be actually wasting your time, because, at least good movies, are usually visually connected from beginning to end, so might you end up missing some cool stuff.
Like in Maggie, for example, Arnie meets with his friend doctor by a fence. Later on, they meet again, same shot, again by a fence. The scenes are similar, but they have different meanings. So if you watched those two parts in two different moments, you might remember that (they met before) but might not connect the scenes that way.
Honestly, if I stop midway a movie because it is failing to hold my attention, I'll just leave it. I might try to watch it again one day, if not, I'll just read how the story ends somewhere.
But I admire your persistence.
