Was I Not Supposed To Laugh All 90 Minutes?
Honestly, the zombie genre is probably the weakest of all the horror genres, but this film was the worst. The writing was so childish, so simplistic, that I actually couldn't wait to see if there was commentary and the first thing the joker says is "the script is very layered." Layered? It's the worst attempt at metaphors ever. If this had come out in 1988 and was used as a metaphor for AIDS, maybe I'd have bought it. The scene at the dinner table, might have been the worst acting I've ever seen. It's as if these two had never eaten bad food before and had to lie. Even when the film tries, it uses lines used in other films and not as well. The camera work was so shoddy, the scenery is lost. Honestly, that's not even the worst aspect of this film. That would be that nothing actually happens. Not a single thing that wasn't supposed to happen in the first 20 minutes, happens in the last 70. I'm sure I'll be told I didn't get it, but there really wasn't anything to get. It was as superficial as it appeared. Trust me, I wanted to like it. I think Breslin is a talent and people my age all have a huge soft spot for Arnie. It was doomed by a bad foundation and people not talented enough to make it work.
