Of all the versions out there, this is by far the VERY BEST!
There are no comparisons really. This show is so much stronger then any other versions, and that includes all movies. ALL movies!

I couldn't agree more!!
shareThis better not be an April Fools' joke.
shareI guess April fools is on us!!
shareNot really, '03 turtles was the best version and if you think about it, it was almost as dark as the mirage comics counterpart.
share03 was overrated ugly *beep*
shareWhoa, whoa mate, why so rude? 03 wasn't overrated, it's more likely underrated due to 80's ver and 2012 ver getting more fame.
shareIt's not widely overrated, but many of its fans feel the need to overrate it b/c it's not as popular as the other versions.
shareKeep your 03 version if it's your favourite. But don't state it as a fact it's better than the current version. Because it's not. Not even close. 03 might be a personal favourite, just as many growing up in the 80's refuse to acknowledge later adaptations as better. But truly the current show implement everything that is great by tmnt from the past and adds it's on style to it. Imo 03 felt more like a manga. Some might like it that way. I like it this way.
shareWhy reply to me? lol
shareWell you keep your 2012 version and also the anime style fits perfectly with the ninja/martial arts theme to the turtles, besides 03 had great voice cast, story arcs (apart from Fast forward and Back to the sewers), music and variety of genre (action, comedy, drama, suspense, sci-fi, fantasy). I'm not trying to force you to like it, but you have to admit the episode from 03's tmnt "same as it never was", was one of the most darkest and saddest episode of the series, hell it's probably the best episode of all the tmnt franchise, go watch that episode now and comeback here when you're done.
shareIf this is the best 03 has, I claim my statement as truth. Current is so much better, you can´t even compare it.
shareI'd say the season 2 finale is the best episode of the current series.
shareOk, is there any episode in the 2012 ver that was as dark as 03's episode "same as it never was"? I'd like you to give a link to that episode you suggest and maybe I'll change my opinion on the current ver.
shareWell to me, that episode werent that dark. It was part of an possible future. But sure, I give you one of my favourite episodes from tmnt 2012 series. Its season 1, episode 20, "enemy of my enemy". I think it is really good.
shareThe logic that darker = better is such a shallow mindset. This is why DC is struggling against Marvel right now.
shareBut what about Marvel? they sometimes make things a bit childish at times but they do share some darker properties e.g. Daredevil, Punisher, Deadpool, Wolverine, Blade etc. The reason why DC wants to do a darker properties is because maybe they want to broaden their target audience.
shareLast year's highest-grossing superhero film is Guardians of the Galaxy. Which proved to have a much broader appeal than Man of Steel. None of the films you named are what's popular today. Marvel can go dark whenever they want, but they don't rely on the logic that quality is dependent on how dark the product is. Nor does this show, which is actually the highest rated TMNT series on this site.
shareDoesn't matter if those aren't popular today, if it weren't for Blade movie, non of the marvel property films would hit the big screen today. Back in the 90's, while Dc had there batman films hit big screen, Marvel was carrying on there low budget films (either cancelled, straight to DVD or tv exclusive) until when Blade came along in 1998, it helped kick off a new era of Marvel films.
shareAnd if it wasn't for the massive success of the 80's TMNT cartoon, the '03 show wouldn't even exist.
It does very much matter that the films you named aren't popular today b/c your whole tangent about their impact in the past isn't relevant to the statement that "DC is struggling against Marvel right now". DC is NOT competing against the likes of Blade, Punisher, Daredevil, etc... on the big screen today. And those films were products of other studios rather than Marvel itself.
Also, out of all the titles you named, Blade was the only one that was acclaimed. Further cementing the point that darkness doesn't automatically mean quality. In fact, bringing up DC's success prior to Christopher Nolan's Batman franchise actually highlights the era when they weren't all about making their films dark and gritty.
Well you got a fair point there, but believe it or not the Mirage ninja turtles comic book back in 1984 (which the turtles were based off) was very violent and dark and it should've stay that way, it's like making Mortal Kombat watered down (and that made many fans angry about MK vs DC).
shareOr making a TMNT movie where Shredder is actually an alien... oh wait.
It never stayed that way and people actually loved it more. Even the '03 show was heavily filtered for kids. It's no coincidence that the show that tried to be faithful to the comics is less popular than the show that took most of its inspiration from the 80's cartoon.
But let's put it this way:
87 tmnt=60's batman
03 tmnt=Burton's batman
2012 tmnt=Schumacher batman
2012 TMNT = Batman: The Animated Series
Schumacher TMNT's:

2) https://youtu.be/vGMfb60lc14
I actually kinda of like the anime TMNT.
shareUmm, hell no! Schumachers batman?! Really? Have you even seen the show? Wwith that statement you can´t have. So stfu and watch atleast season 1 and then come back and talk. The only thing the 03 episode you recommended had was dark future time walk. It was nothing but a "nooooo", "i avenge you, aaargh" *beep* all over the place. Is that for adults?
The 2012 show IS for adults! It gives constant homage to the 80´s cartoon and oher 80´s movies that people grewing up at that time can recognise and appriciate. Yet, they still manage to keep up a uniqe storyline, structure and development of the characters that has not been seen before! Schumachers batman had NONE of that! Know what you are talking about before you speak!
You sir are very serious when it comes to comparing ninja turtles just like any other fans comparing other franchises e.g. Tobey Maguire vs Andrew Garfield (spiderman), David Tennant vs Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Daniel Craig vs Pierce Brosnan (James Bond) Etc, so relax mate and I have plenty of 03 episodes to recommend.
shareAlso, out of all the titles you named, Blade was the only one that was acclaimed. Further cementing the point that darkness doesn't automatically mean quality. In fact, bringing up DC's success prior to Christopher Nolan's Batman franchise actually highlights the era when they weren't all about making their films dark and gritty.
Perhaps not, but the '03 series had a lot more substance, definite characterization and development, and complete arcs. 2012 has some arcs, some characterization, but honestly does not feel fully realized, and really plays on the "mutation of the week" format too much.

Personally I prefer the 2003 version as that had far more likeable characters whilst still maintaining a sense of fun, I found that to be the much more rounded series, 87 was great as when I was little but now I can see the silliness of it all and this version I feel whilst it hits the fun elements of the turtles perfectly it is poor in any real meaning to anything.
In the 03 version the characters were much better in their overall portrayal, Splinter actually appeared to be a caring father, the friendship between the Turtles and Casey & April made much more sense even the Foot seemed more deadly in spite of Shredder now having an army of mutants and robo ninja's, they seemed more dangerous in that version and played well as this major faction in the underworld.
I think mostly it's the character's that fall flat on this version as I said Splinter doesn't appear as a loving father, instead he comes across more abusive and uncaring, thinking he's above anyone questioning him and almost being blasé about the Turtles running off to save the world and risking their lives whilst he sits on his butt, the Casey & April thing also made little sense in how they played it, in the 03' version Casey was shown as being an attractive guy with a heart who fought for his neighbourhood and friends, this version of Casey is a dick who thinks he's the coolest guy around who just loves fighting, why that wins over someone is beyond me unless that person is meant to be an airhead, but the 03 version had actually good qualities whilst he may be a dope he was a dope with a heart of gold.
It's still a fun show but it does fall into a pitfall of a lot of TV shows these days where even the likable characters are unlikable a lot of the time atleast to me they are.
Yes, 100% agree with you on this, nicely written post btw ;-)
shareThe 2003 version was good, yes.
But, I like the fact that Splinter is less of a goody-two-sho.. feet in this iteration of the Turtles. He still cares about his "sons", but he's more gruff, more hard-assed, less morally clean, and more "real" in his emotional repertoire given that he's a man who was turned into a giant rat and had to make do to the best of the situation, all this AFTER having lost his wife and daughter.
And I think the characterization of the turtles is pretty good as well, though I wish they would tone Mikey down just a bit. We get it: he's a clown. But he shouldn't be a clown ALL THE FREAKING TIME.
April and Casey are definitely the weakest parts in this series for me. I would have preferred them to be older, wiser, Casey a bit less of a dick, April a bit more mature.
The best show by far was the original 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle series. Not saying I don't like the 2012 version of the turtles but it is not has good as the original. I can't speak on the 2003 version has I did not really watch it.
shareMy 2 y.o. named Toot loves this show.
