Do you think this show will get cancelled like others have been?

Or do you think we'll be getting a series finale once the fourth (or possibly fifth) season roles around? Shows are being cancelled all the time nowadays; Kungfu Panda Legends of Awesomeness, Steven Universe, Young Justice, Beware the Batman, etc. Heck, even The Legend of Korra got cancelled (in the sense that it got taken off TV, and finished up online). Do you think TMNT will suffer the same fate as well?

I have to admit that with it being moved to a Sunday time slot it does seem like that might happen. I hope not tho

reply

I hope not. I mean, if they cancel it, what will Nickelodeon do with the franchise?

It was on sundays for most of last season too.

reply

I kinda hope they do cancel it, and make a new 2D-animated show.

Given that they already ordered a 4th season, are making a ton of toys, and pushing the movie franchise at the same time, it'd be in their best interest to keep the show airing.

reply

Indeed. For kids' cartoons, especially TMNT, it's more about the toy sales than the ratings. I don't know if the demand is meeting the supply, but there is Turtles stuff everywhere, and I do see kids getting merch so it will be around for a while.

This is something I dislike about shows when they aren't given notice before they get axed so they dont get to leave with a real finish, in this day and age you would figure it shouldn't happen now what with so many networks and even online avenues for them not to atleast arrange for a finale season or atleast final episode, hopefully TMNT is a few years out from that and hopefully they get a chance to finish their story the right way.

Though I cant see it happening for a while atleast as I would think unless Nickelodeon cancels this season whilst having a replacement series ready to go why they would kill of an arm of the TMNT franchise when they have the movies still in play as surely the TV show is an easy way to get new fans into the turtles and there by creating more movie goers.

While I understand your point of view, TV shows aren't created primarily to tell stories. They are created for the intended purpose to trick people into watching ads or, in the case of established franchises, brand reinforcement via other forms of purchases. If they tell a story in the process, it's all well and good, but it's not the most important purpose of a show.

Since this show is animated, it has already been scheduled for a Season 4, and due to the nature of animation (they had recorded scenes in October that did not air until March), news of an extension will necessarily come sooner rather than later.

Nickelodeon is good at keeping Shows going for a number of years. very rarely canceling any of the shows they make. They even canceled shows then brought them back.

I think it's even been renewed for a 3rd season.
