Is this the last season?

I hope not because there is space for more... They now have spacesuits and the weaponry Honeycut Fugitoid gave them, there is Fugitoid to be rescued, there are part of the fleet of the Triceratons to be fought... Etc.

A 5th season was ordered a while ago. 5 seasons is the showrunners plan. They are not objecting to go on for longer although it would take some reworking of the story they mapped out at this point.

reply

No, it's not.

Thanks for your answers... I find the series to be the most childish of them all, but I am loyal since the 90s, so I follow it and wanted to see more.

reply

Dude, the 80s/90s show would never ever have Shredder murder Splinter b/c it's the most childish of them all.

reply

Actually Shredder wouldn't ever murder Splinter in that series because Splinter is way too much a better fighter than Shredder in that series and can't be defeated by Shredder, even from behind.

reply

Uh... pretty sure Splinter was already at Shredder's mercy in the 2nd episode of that show.

reply

I agree. The 87 series was far more childish.

I read online that the series was only scheduled to go for 5 seasons. After watching the Trans-Dimensional Turtles episode I thought ending it after 5 would be an even bigger mistake then I originally thought. I would like to see a 12-14 episode story arc with the Turtles stuck in the 80s.

I could just imagine the Turtles acting with their 80s selves and meeting a few of the 80s bad guys. I would love to see them interact with their Leatherhead, Bebop, Rocksteady, Baxter, the Rat King, and several others. I would also like to see how they interact with good guys like Casey Jones, the frogs, the neutrinos, and a few others. I would like to see them go to the Planet of the Turtles as well. I would even love to see a few crossover episodes with various turtle incarnations the original black and white, 2003, and possibly the 1990 movie cast in animated form with Corey Feldman, Robbie Rist, and Elias Koteas doing their original voice work. I would love some of the crazy villains and storylines too, like The Case of the Killer Pizzas, the Robocop Rex-1 episode, that time Mikey needed some extra cash and became a delivery boy or when he met his comic book heroes, when Donnie went to college on a boat, any of the gangster episodes or anytime the turtles went undercover.

I'm getting all nostalgic and just want to take the afternoon off to watch TMNT all weekend now just thinking about it. This may be the longest IMDB post Ive ever made but I just cant stop typing about my love of this TMNT and the original TMNT.

Sadly though we would miss out on one of the most pivotal pieces, an appearance from the great James Avery as Shredder.

I took a little while to write this and would appreciate any feedback from fellow Turtle fans, let me know what you think or any stories and characters you would like to be included. One things for sure though, no mention of the Michael Bay films. Uck.

I'm happy to leave the 80s series in the past. I was young then but now when it's rather tedious. The music is repetitive and the stories are very childish. If you haven't seen them for a while and tune in, you may just agree.

That said, some of their versions of the characters were better. Rat King, Frogs, Bebop and Rocksteady and Leatherhead come to mind.

Thankfully the Turtles have proven themselves to be profitable even when their films stink. That means there will probably always be another film or cartoon just around the corner (like Spider-Man). I'm still waiting for an ultimate Turtles film, a reboot obviously, and it will come. There may even be better cartoon series made, although I like the current one.

I didn't grow up with the 80s series, but I did watch the DVDs and even though the show does get overly silly at times(especially in season 3), it's still a pretty enjoyable watch.

reply

I wouldn't want the whole season to be about the 80s turtles but use them within it. If that makes sense. The 80s turtles could screw something and bounce between universes messing up each on (1 episode) and then they get to 2012 and team up and go to the various universe to fix them (4-6 episodes) only to end up trapped in the 80s, having to find a way home (6 episodes). The primary focus would always stay on the 2012 tmnt though.

reply

Yeah that could be cool. Also it could mean some new figures based on 80s Shredder and Krang and others 

reply

I still have most of mine. Between my brother and I its probably a few hundred total with duplicates of the more popular things. I was at Target the other day and saw a TMNT: OotS technodrome. I was really disappointed as I thought it was an original from the 80s.

I do have the original but its at my parents because my douche bag brother keeps claiming my stuff as his and refuses to divide up our tmnt.

reply

It might end in Season 5, as the Turtles have defeated the Triceratons and the Krang. As much as I enjoy this show, I can see that it is running out of ideas fast and it is only a question of time before almost all episodes turn into filler, like most of Season 4 was. All that is left to wrap up is the issue of Karai and Shredder, and this can be done in Season 5.

If the series proves successful enough, a spinoff series featuring the turtles who went to space can be created. However, this actual series will probably need to end soon. It's sad to see it coming toward an end, I followed it from the very beginning in 2012.

reply

Even when this series ends, probably another one will be planned. It's like Spider-Man or even Batman. It is a proven formula. Kids take to it and older fans are still interested. I don't think there will be long breaks between Turtles series for a long while yet.

As to running out of ideas, it hasn't stopped Batman. And there are four Turtles, with differing personalities. That gives unlimited potential for stories. And regarding new characters, well there's many animals we've yet to see anthropomorphised in the Turtleverse. Plus the old classics can always be re-spawned.

reply

Yeah i'll bet the rest of the season 4 will be about the Turtles searching for Karai and finally being able to cure her for good and having her live with them, then season 5 would focus on them taking down Shredder once and for all.

reply

Sounds about right to me. Though I would prefer Karai to keep her serpentine abilities.

Would be nice is Mona Lisa also decided to come and stay on Earth. Raph would be stoked.

reply

The Previous 2 Incarnations (1987 and 2003 Versions) were 7 Seasons, I think this might be as well. It would be good to see the 80s Turtles join forces again, especially for the 2012 Version's Series Finale.

reply

Seems like we will have another cross over with 1980s Shredder going into the 2012 Turtles Universe and them needing the 1980s Turtle's help handling this Shredder. Unfortunately though it won't be the original Shredder voice since James Avery has passed away.
