Charles conversation with himself
When future Charles is counseling his younger self that he needs to open his mind, feel the pain of others and learn to embrace it; and in doing so it will make him more powerful than he ever imagined. It's the greatest gift we have - to bear their pain without breaking. And by doing so, he offers up the most human of powers: hope.
Does that scene sound just a bit religious? I mean Christ allowed sinners lean on him he gave sight to the blind, he brought Lazarous back from the dead. No matter how badly he was laughed at, no matter how badly he was treated - he still gave humanity hope.
