Decent box office performance, but can't compare with spider man

This movie: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl67732993/

Spider-Man: No Way Home: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl2869659137/

Black Widow: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl2122089985/

$128.5 million opening weekend, better than black widow, but black widow was on streaming, so there is that.

Not bad, not great.

EDIT: Final number became $134,008,624 for some reason.

reply

It's 15,000.

reply

Spiderman sucked though. Can't figure out the taste of the masses.

reply

I thought so too. I think that is just the strength of the franchise.

reply

Maybe.

Long covid? Get well soon!

reply

Spider-Man had already two movies before it...Same actor.

i don't think anyone expected a dark, not kid-friendly 3 hour movie to do the kind of business spider-man did.

i would say 135m is pretty great. just about as good as they could have hoped, perhaps.

reply

It couldn't even beat previous Batman movies with Bale and Affleck.

reply

true, but i think the same things could be said there. those were more adult and dark than your typical mcu film, but by all accounts they weren't as dark and adult as this one.

if you have a lot of people saying 'i don't think my 10 year old is quite ready for this,' then that will make a difference.

& it's not quite fair to compare this to tdk or tdkr, since this is the first film, presumably with more to come. the better comparison would probably be batman begins.

i don't think you can compare it to the affleck bvs film, since that had superman as well.

reply

I really liked this movie a whole lot but I still think Spider-Man was better.

reply

Spider man is for kiddies. Any decent parent wouldn’t take their kiddies to see The Batman. It’s pretty dark.

reply

What are you, 13?

reply

What are you, 13?

That is the comment coming from the person who’s profile name is “clit commander”? 🤣

To answer your question though, no, I was just joking around with the “kiddie” comment, though I do believe Spider-man is much more kid friendly than Batman, and more parents are willing to take their children to see Spider-man than Batman due to the adult tone with this new film.

reply

Though at least in US both are PG-13 movies.

reply

No Way Home is far from a kid's movie.
