I just read that this show will no longer be on BBC (not exactly sure when the move will take place). It's moving to another British station (with commercials). I don't care if it has commercials or not, I just love this show and want to be able to see it here in the States! I think I've cried at some point during every episode. This show is so much better (I almost typed "butter") than the Food Network's nasty "food-tude" shows.

Thanks for the info, but I don't know what Channel 4 is (in the UK). It's not the same in the States.
shareI think many Channel 4 programmes end up airing on BBC America (The Inbetweeners, Friday Night Dinner, Spaced). So there's a good chance the show will continue airing as usual in the US.

I wonder if all four stars will move too, a shame because Channel 4 won't get the high audiences

PBS airs programs that originate from other channels than BBC(inc. ones that have commercials), so it comes down to obtaining the rights from CH4.

They are going to have to revamp the show now. And judging by the American version, the hosts, judges, and producers will make or break this show.
The American version followed the exact same format but the hosts were terrible. Even though we had Paul and Mary as judges, the contestants lacked the personality and charm of the Brits, and i'm sure that was due to who the producers picked for contestants based on their personalities. I felt like i was watching actor-wannabees doing some baking.
I hope they don't ruin what was once a perfect show.

A spokesperson for Love productions (the company that does the show) talks about the move - "It's tremendously exciting to have found a broadcaster (channel 4) who we know will protect and nurture The Great British Bake Off for many years to come."
Um, there's not going to be much to work with when 3 out the 4 main people walk away from the show. Not sure how they can replace the cast and still make it just like before.

Paul is staying but mary is going, which is a shame, i like her. On the plus side, Perkins and the other idiot are leaving as well, which has to be an improvement.
shareMuch as you may dislike Mel and Sue, they are part of the what made TGBBO what it is. 3/4 of the talent has declined to move to C4, and I can't help but wonder whether C4 ought to have ensured that they got the constituent parts of what made the show a success before stumping up the cash.
