The storyline reminds me of....

The movie i saw years ago....
it's South Korean anti-war movie Welcome To Dongmakgol (2005)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0475783/
>> The story is set in Korea during the Korean War in 1950. Soldiers from both Korea (3 from North and 2 from South) find themselves in a secluded village. They confront each other at the beginning but bonds friendship in the end

Hmm, sounds similar to me....Is this a remake? loose adaptation? or what?
Can somebody explain to me?

thanks ~

*sorry 4 my bad english*

I think it sounds even more like ENEMY MINE (1985) by Wolfgang Petersen. Very interesting and underestimated sci-fi:

/ Pingo

Yeah. If it had been a Hollywood movie I could picture it being pitched as Nazi Enemy Mine in the snow...

Yeah..It's almost a dead ringer..

"I rather have a bottle in front of me than have to have a frontal lobotomy"

reply

That should read: 'I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.' Here to help.

"Which it will be ready when it's READY!" Preserved Killick, Master and Commander

reply

I know, but wrote it like Tom Waits said it:D

reply

Oh, really? Well if Tom said it like that it must be OK. :D

Hell in the Pacific was a similar plot. There was another very similar to it as well release about the same time, however I can't remember the title or actors.

reply

Hell in the Pacific is also the first movie to come to mind. Great minds I guess;)

reply

The plot outline reminds me of A Midnight Clear.

reply

haha i was thinking the same thing, and and then i came across your post. the 2 films do sound similar though

To quote the director:
"It is a Norwegian film with an international cast but it is inspired by an event that took place here in Norway during WWII. From a Norwegian perspective I think it is a different WWII story since we don’t focus on Nazi atrocities but on these five men and their meeting. That said, it is an universal story and I hope that our great cast will help the film both in Norway and abroad."

I hope this answers your question :-)

you forgot about the American fighter pilot that turns up and joins them...

this doesn`t feel the same as Welcome To Dongmakgol to me that film was a fictional war film where i believe this is a truish story of sorts
closer to hell in the pacific and as others have said Enemy Mine

This movie reminds me of NO MAN'S LAND(2001).. That was a wonderful film where two soldiers from different countries ended up together in the "no man's land" in the midst of the raging war.. That film showed the tension between the two hostile soldiers. This film too has a similar plot-line but unlike to the NO MAN"S LAND they became pals in the end.NO MAN'S LAND depicted the death of both the soldiers in the end while a third was watching them resting his back on a mine that would explode at the slightest movement.

Both of these films are brilliant...
