Brits were annoying

Agreed. I would have been perfectly happy had the Germans shot them within 5-minutes of their walking into the cabin. Really annoying.

I suppose that's why the names were changed.

This displayed the cocky arrogance of British people.

The Germans certainly were more gentlemenly. (don't really want to call them Nazis)
But ah, the Brits were just trying to get on the Germans' nerves. And were successful, apparently.



Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down and a Wagging Finger of Shame

It does seem pretty stupid to antagonize the guys who just took you prisoner. Especially in the middle of nowhere like that with limited food available. The Germans could easily have decided it wasn't worth the trouble taking care of these guys and bringing them back alive, dividing their minuscule supply of food with them. I'm reminded of the scene in Letters From Iwo Jima where a couple of Americans murdered two Japanese prisoners just because they didn't want to deal with the inconvenience of looking after them. The Brits were extremely lucky that at least two of the Germans were sane and reasonable. They could have easily gotten themselves killed, or at least been treated a lot worse than they were.
