What Did You Think Of The Motel Episode?
I thought it was just alright. Not too bad, not too good. Glad it's back on though! My Wednesdays were getting dull.
What am I always telling you? You must pay no attention to what I say.

S4 ep1 aka 'The Motel' was a good one.
Remember that after three seasons, to keep up the quality, of *most* earlier episodes, is surely a tall order, by now. So it's little wonder that the odd cynic is expecting this one to fail. After all, A Haunting's fourth series (when they upped the CGI and briefly dumbed down the narrative - yet, series 6 of A.H. onwards, was a return to earlier form) just wasn't as good as its three earlier series, so PW is actually, and in fairness, doing well... with its first episode of the 4th series, at least!
I just hope the rest of the episodes will be at least as good to watch.
I must say too that the one episode I'm not particularly looking forward to watching will be the so called 'true' story behind 'the Conjuring'. I just can't imagine how that will be a good episode. But, OTOH, I've been surprised before...

Sandwiched between The Principle of Mediocrity & Rare Earth Theory, you should see The Fermi Paradox

I absolutely agree with you too.
OTOH, I reckon they took soooo long primarily because they didn't want to sacrifice quality for quantity etc. If so, then that's frankly and absolutely admirable - i.e., that they took their time to research and find the best people to feature on each episode, as opposed to just rushing out another series on the back of season 3 for the sake of preserving timely continuity only. I reckon if the fourth series had of been a 'rush job' then the whole shebang could have crashed and burned, and then PW would probably have (perish the thought!) been no more!
The good news, for those of us who appreciate this show, is that Paranormal Witness episodes should still be pulling in some decent audience figures (around 1.5 million viewers, last time I checked) - which is, let's face it, impressive enough work for a speciality channel the size of SYFY. That in itself should guarantee that the show, as long as it's as brilliant as it's been to date, won't be going anywhere. Albeit, on audience numbers, I must say that I could never quite understand why 'Ghost Hunters' is still just that bit more popular! Can't stand that show myself. Hmmm.
Regardless, it's a good job for we viewers, that the producers of PW obviously know that their first person, narrative driven formula works - and that they haven't attempted, nor needed, to dumb down the production values, with cheesy CGI, flashes, bangs, overuse of ghost detectors etc., just to try and rein in more viewers. Whewwwww!! Now that's a relief, because until Ep 1 aired, I had my worries that unwelcome change might have been on the cards...

Hi again, nice to see we're in agreement on these issues. :-)
BTW, just wanted to say that the viewer numbers for the first episode from the current season haven't been released yet. I do believe that for the last season they were openly published after all episodes aired. So it might/should take quite some time before they're published.... HTH
Good to see the reaction for this 1st episode over on twitter has been very positive. Lots of folk are happy that PW is back :-))

I enjoyed the episode much better than most of the episodes from season 3. It thoroughly creeped me out. I have hopes that this season will keep getting better :)
shareI was pretty happy with the episode. No crazy CG added for cheap effects, and they seem to stick with the original formula. I look forward to the new batch, and that says something because I've stopped watching most other paranormal shows. I loved the original A Haunting shows, and PW reminds me of that one.
