The Hotel = Lemp Mansion in St. Louis

As mentioned before this is the Lemp Mansion in St. Louis.

I verified this by tracking down Melissa Wideman, the housekeeper in the show who's housekeeping service takes care of this place.

This is another lame episode where they are taking obviously famous ghost stories and locations and spinning it like a new story. They've been writing ghost books about this place since 1980.

This show used to have some great, original stories from regular people. Unknown stories. I can't bear to watch this garbage anymore.

BTW, that Melissa chick got terrible reviews on her cleaning company. LOL.

Is it worth visiting St Louis for this? What else is in St Louis? I am planning a US holiday late this year.

reply

In short, No. St. Louis is an armpit.

If you're going to be in St Louis, it's worth visiting the Lemp and staying the night...but I wouldn't go to St Louis just to visit the Lemp Mansion.

YES, Elwyn. Even if you're not into the ghost thing, its an historic landmark and a gorgeous house. Maramec Caverns aren't too far away, and its a major city with lots to do. The Anheiser Busch brewery is literally across the highway from the Lemp and visible from the house. They give free tours.
Unless new owners have taken over and changed the way things are run, when we were there, we were given a key to a back door and told we could go in and out through there after the staff left at 11:30pm. We were told we could explore the entire house, save for the bar and basement, as they had motion detectors. With four stories, it probably took us two hours to see the whole thing, do our thing and take photos, etc.

I don't know why they didn't want to identify the Lemp Mansion. It's been on about 5 different ghost shows and identified as the Lemp Mansion.

Probably because their production team is lazy and want to get the table scraps of the other ghost shows instead of fielding some new and original stories.

This was the first episode that creeped me out since the Snowed in episode with the crazy church members. Who would have thought a ghost would chase a poor bride and her bridesmaid?!
Anyway when they mentioned the 2 suicide so close together I thought I had heard the story before. I think Lemp Mansion was an old episode of MTVs Fear.

1. BVS 2. TWS 3. Avenger

It is the Lemp. The suicide date of "Charles" matches that of Charles Lemp. I don't know what the filming location is, because that's not the Lemp... but I've noticed they often use alternate filming locations in this show, and have even recycled the same house about three times.
I don't find it to be lame at all. Decent episode. I'm not sure they were trying to "spin it as a new story" so much as tamp down what they might see as negative publicity. (Which I don't get, because it would generate business these days) I also don't understand why they'd seek anonymity at this point, since the place was recently featured on Ghost Hunters and Ghost Adventures episodes... unless the owners are new.
The wife and I stayed here and heard footsteps in the hallway at about 3 am... we were the only ones in the house. We stayed in the room that Charles shot himself, with the piano.
Later in the night, as I slept, my wife heard footsteps coming across the floor toward our bed in our room. I slept through it. She always experiences more than I do.
