Green Imp and Yellowbeard (A Dystopian Fan-Fic!)

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" [2014] has a lot of things going for it:

1. an effective cast
2. great film-editing
3. cool visuals and action-sequences
4. a well-organized audio experience
5. intriguing characters

In fact, if you're new to the world of 'comic book storytelling,' then this film will have you thinking merry (with your kids!) about 'improvisational ghoulishness.'

Here's a civilization-colored Spidey fan-fic I wrote, inspired by the style of 'Choose-Your-Own-Adventure' (virtual-reality oral tradition) theatrics presented in the film.

Peter Parker, the happy photojournalist working for the Daily Bugle received an assignment to photograph and record the public interview of NYC's two newest super-villains arrested by Spider-Man --- Green Imp (a mutated Narcissistic anti-establishmentarian) and Yellowbeard (a self-proclaimed 'prophet' of terrorism). The interview was conducted by a renowned Oscorp psychologist, and the public (news reporters, society critics, and citizens) were invited to view how Oscorp was treating these new 'diplomats of crime.' Peter made sure no one would suspect that he was in fact Spider-Man.

When Peter arrived at the public Oscorp event, he noticed the crowd of people gathered and the news cameras and reporters. He pulled out his handy-dandy Canon camera and began snapping away and taking notes about what was said to and by Green Imp and Yellowbeard. Peter was careful to consider how this public interview would affect the two super-villains and whether or not it would give them 'mischievous ideas' about escape and deformity.

GREEN IMP: We two are merely 'diplomats of urban corruption.'
YELLOWBEARD: We are no more guilty than the violence-glorifying media!
INTERVIEWER: Do you feel that Oscorp can help you?

GREEN IMP: If Oscorp's scientists are curious about mutation, then yes.
YELLOWBEARD: Does Oscorp have the necessary resources to analyse evil?
INTERVIEWER: Oscorp scientists characterize 'evil' as criminal insanity!

GREEN IMP: Insanity is a reality, and the real crazies are the NYPD.
YELLOWBEARD: Does anyone bat an eyelash about police brutality?
INTERVIEWER: Have you been treated fairly in Oscorp?

GREEN IMP: So far, the scientists are alright, but we need care.
YELLOWBEARD: Oscorp has the potential to be a real hospital.
INTERVIEWER: Thank you for your time and attention.

Peter took his well-taken photographs and notes to his boss at the Daily Bugle. The article printed about the widely-publicized Oscorp interview of Green Imp and Yellowbeard had everyone in NYC talking about creative approaches to criminal insanity. Green Imp was believed to be a man made angry by his undesirable toxic-poisoning related mutation, and Yellowbeard was a symbol of humanity gone mischievous.

Spider-Man was soaring around NYC that night, prowling the city streets looking for miscreants and criminals when he suddenly noticed that Green Imp and Yellowbeard were on the rooftop of the Empire State Building waving two giant red flags and throwing tear-gas grenades at the pedestrians on the street below them. Spidey soared in to tie the two ghouls up with his cobweb-shooter. Spider-Man (Peter Parker) remarked to himself, "If I can return these two NYC nemeses to Oscorp, maybe the world will see that the only cure to criminal insanity is, in fact, danger-charting!"

I like how this story turned out, so I'm creating another one with the same 'flavor/tone.'

SPIDER-MAN: I'm going to Earth.
ORACLE: What's so interesting about Earth?
SPIDER-MAN: The species that lives there (humans) are very idealistic but troubled.
ORACLE: Troubled how?
SPIDER-MAN: They are confounded by ethics and ambition.
ORACLE: Where will you tell them you are from?
SPIDER-MAN: I won't tell them I'm from the Twilight Zone.

Spider-Man disguised himself as an affable photojournalist named Peter Parker and began working for the Daily Bugle newspaper in NYC. By night, he soared around on his cobwebs looking for criminals and evildoers making trouble. Spidey would wrap them up in his cobwebs and prevent them from wiggling around with enough freedom to cause more terror. This went on for about two years before Spider-Man had to deal with a true menace --- Green Goblin.

Norman Osborn, the mad scientist working at Oscorp, an experimental science firm in NYC, had found a way to fuse human DNA with alligator DNA, and he ingested some of this 'transformative serum' himself, only to discover that he was changing into a semi-humanoid 'ghoul' with green skin and incredible strength (and a maniacal mind). Norman started calling himself the Green Goblin. He wrote in his diary:

"I believe what I am changing into is something 'extra-human' and somewhat 'non-human.' My hypothesis is that this strange alteration in my DNA has transformed me into a being that is literally from another biophysical 'universe.' I've decided that my alter-ego (the Green Goblin) is a creature from the 'Dark Side.' I must challenge this Spider-Man vigilante in a duel, since this 'super-hero' seems to be from a 'spirit dimension.'!"

Spider-Man and Green Goblin met in Central Park in NYC and started a conversation first about what their intentions were, and Spidey was truly horrified. After Spider-Man wrapped up Green Goblin in cobwebs and transported him to a maximum security prison, he interview Green Goblin (Norman Osborn) to understand the nature of the creature. Spider-Man also sought to understand why Norman would want to use his newfound physical strength to create havoc.

SPIDER-MAN: Do you think you are evil?
GREEN GOBLIN: I exist on another 'plane of reality.'
SPIDER-MAN: Well, I myself am from another 'realm of humanity.'
GREEN GOBLIN: Yes, I understand. You're from a 'spirit-zone' of sorts.
SPIDER-MAN: Correct! What do you think you are?
GREEN GOBLIN: I am a hell-born creature from the 'dark side' of the universe.
SPIDER-MAN: Why do you think you 'belong' to the 'dark side'?
GREEN GOBLIN: My physical transformation gives me access to a 'parallax view' of brutality.
SPIDER-MAN: What do you mean? Do you enjoy being cruel?
GREEN GOBLIN: My 'other-worldly strength' compels me to be a hell-raiser.
SPIDER-MAN: Can't you harness your strength to understand the 'majesty of humans'?
GREEN GOBLIN: Right now, all I feel is the need to be completely isolated.

Spider-Man concluded that this 'altered beast' was a 'diplomat' of steroids. Spider-Man told his spirit-guide (the Oracle) that his new mission was to redeem Norman Osborn. The Oracle congratulated Spider-Man for being a 'true human.'
