Waddles

Does anyone else think that Mabel should've named him Porky. Then he'd be Porky Pines.

reply

Shouldn't it be spelled Wattles?

reply

I've never heard of someone wattling. She named him Waddles because he waddles when he walks.

Still, my point remains; Porky Pines would've been clever.

Wattles are a fleshy growth that can hang from the head or neck. Some pigs have them.

I just checked the IMDB credits list and they spell it Waddles, but that's not necessarily the official spelling. Maybe somebody who works on the show could confirm this.

"His name is Waddles, I call him that because he waddles!"

Mabel said it in the show. She said she was going to make him waddles because he waddles when he walks. It was in the episode where she won him at the fair. It's canon. Have you not heard the term waddle?

reply

It's Waddles. The spelling is shown in "the Love God" at the end of the episode. (On the cover of the photo album for Waddles and Gompers' wedding)

Well this thread certianly has derailed. When I began this thread, I didn't think it was going to devolve into what the correct spelling of Waddles is.

reply

Well, to get back on track. I like Waddles better then Porky, it's a cute sounding name. Plus, I never liked the WB character Porky Pig.

And Disney probably wouldn't want people thinking of another studio's character.
