season 3 (possible spoilers ahead)

So, is it official, that there will under no circumstances be a third season?

No word yet, that I know of.

Someone on here said Hirsh is open to a third season if Disney wants it. And Gravity Falls is one of their top shows.

According to Nielsen’s Live+ 3 estimates, the July 13 episode “A Tale of Two Stans” averaged 2.319 million viewers — the largest audience for a regular Disney XD series telecast in the network’s six-year history. In addition to total viewers, it also set a network record in kids 2-11 (1.036 million), boys 2-11 (686,000), boys 6-11 (574,000), kids 6-14 (1.279 million) and boys 6-14 (856,000).

“Gravity Falls” now accounts for Disney XD’s top seven regular animated series telecasts of all time in kids 6-11.

Last week’s “Gravity Falls” was the top-rated program in its 8:30 p.m. timeslot across all kid and boy 2-11, 6-11 and 6-14 demos and was cable TV’s No. 1 scripted telecast in total viewers, according to Live+3 estimates from Nielsen
.
So maybe Disney will want another season. If they do, maybe it can be about the other dimensions. I would love to see the gang in a Lego universe.

(I copy and pasted the above quote from http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/gravirt-falls-ratings-disney-xd-1201544324/. I left out the last paragraph as it contains a spoiler about season 2's mid season final.)

Sometimes too much is bad thing IE, the Simpsons. I love the Simpsons, have been a fan since the beginning, but after 2001, that's when it went downhill.

Yeah, but Disney only runs shows for 3-4 seasons.... so there is not much to worry about it running like the Simpsons.
