I hope not; I mean I like Rick and Morty but it's not a show you can watch without a cleansing. This show should be my break from it.

I doubt it. GF frequently gives us 'the feels' (as the kids call it), but unlike Rick and Morty (particularly its third ep of Season 2), it's not bringing its characters down a dark spiral of cynicism and depression.
Not to mention GF has a complete lack of alcohol, profanity, gore (or at least, explicit gore), diamond-stud nippled alien people, Gazorpazorpfield, etc...

shareBoth are awesome and similar but GF will never be as edgy as R&M because this show appeals to all ages while R&M only appeals to adults (due to coarse language, sexual themes, and blood/gore)
shareFun fact: there's a link between the shows. when few things being sucked into portal in "Gravity Falls" appear out of the portal in "Rick and Morty". So yeah, I'd say they share similarities ;)

Yeah, I remember that Easter egg! Though I get what the OP is getting at. GF season 2 has had a lot of 'Ford and Dipper' episodes that are like family-friendly Rick and Morty episodes in some respects. I kinda always hoped for a crossover where the two smartest men of two different universes met.
