So, Stan ruined Ford's life; Ford ruined McGucket's life...

Does this mean Mabel will ruin Dipper's life?

Never say "Worst movie ever" to someone who's seen Highlander 2

reply

That's entirely a possibility.

reply

McGucket ruined his own life. Ford didn't force him to help with the device.

And while Stan did prevent Ford from going to the school he wanted, Ford still got his grant money and was pretty happy in Gravity Falls.

I do agree that they seem to be setting up a split between Dipper and Mabel. (Bill has already tried to get them to betray each other in Sock Opera.) But I think Dipper and Mabel will be able to forgive each other which will help the Stans forgive each other.

Hopefully.

There is still clearly something between them, its just buried under years of pent up emotions.

reply

Are you referring to the Stans, or Mabel and Dipper? Or both?

reply

I guessing the Stans. And I agree. I'm sensing that they still love each other, but can't get over their petty grudges. Grunkle Stan seems ready to forgive but he's waiting for Ford to make the first move.

reply

The Stan's.

I think there are clear signs that the two still do love each other. Its just buried under years of resentment and pain.

According to "Dipper and Mabel vs the Future" Bill Cipher tricked Mabel into causing Armageddon, which Ford predicts will destroy the world/universe. So I guess you could say it looks like Mabel is destined to ruin/end Dipper's life.

Unless someone can stop Bill Ciper's unstoppable plan in time.

reply

No I don't think Mabel will ruin Dipper's life. Sure she caused the Weirdocalypse, but I trust they'll find a way to Stop Bill and reverse the whole thing.
I could see Ford sacrificing himself to seal it all up some way.

Sure the show has themes of "you can't get everything you want; life is sometimes hard and sad". But it also have a strong theme of family and friendship conquering hardship. I find it very unlikely to have the series end with Bill winning, killing everybody. Or even Mabel and Dipper splitting up. It's very popular to have shock endings in kid's shows these days, but I just don't think it would fit in this show. Mabel and Dipper deserves to be happy :-)

If the show ends now I honestly think summer will just end and they both return home - which is kinda sad in it's own way. They still got each other, but there's still that melancholy streak we all remember from when summer used to end...

If it's renewed they'll either BOTH stay in GF and go to school there or be homeschooled by Ford.
OR summer will end and they'll both return next summer one year older.

I don't think so, mainly because I believe that the show's direction at this point is to show that Dipper and Mabel are NOT meant to split. Ford has always seen Stan as expendable and uninmportant, which is why he doesn't realize what taking Dipper away would mean. He sees it as helping Dipper realize his full potential; what he doesn't understand is that Dipper is at his best WITH Mabel, not without her. That's the nature of Dipper and Mabel's relationship, as we have seen time and time again throughout the series, and that is what the show will ultimately go back to.

I do agree that a possibility for the show is either ending their time in Gravity Falls victoriously and having Dipper and Mabel return home, or have Dipper and Mabel stay in Gravity Falls and do their schooling there.

I have to disagree with both these points.

1. As kids get older, separating and becoming their own individual person is a fact of life, especially twins of a different gender. They can (and should) go their own way, yet still learn from the mistakes of Stanly and Ford.

2. I don't think Ford ever saw Stan as expendable. The crux of their conflict is that Ford was happy to achieve his dreams on his own, while still staying in touch with his brother. Stan, on the other hand, was afraid of being by himself, and these feeling always resulted in him ruining things for Ford (like destroying the science project and pushing him into the machine). Dipper and Mabel shouldn't have the same issue because unlike Stan, Mabel can easily make new friends.

reply

But they're still only 12 years old. Yeah, they're going to have to separate at some point, but 12 is way too young to be separated from your twin for the rest of your tween/teenage years. They don't have to separate right now, and Dipper and Mabel couldn't stand being away from each other when they were in the same house, let alone live in different parts of the country.

Also, people seem to be forgetting that Dipper and Mabel have lives outside of Gravity Falls. Staying cooped up in a basement with Ford in Gravity Falls for years on end won't be good for Dipper. The kid's already awkward enough as it is, and while I agree that Ford doesn't see Stan as "expendable", he doesn't think very highly of him and is way too dependent on his intelligence and is blind to the needs and feelings of other people (but that's for another discussion), and whatever offer he was giving to Dipper was being tainted by all of that other crap that he has with Stan.

and Ford ruined Dipper's life

BREAK THE CYCLE!
