Would season 2 have been too dark to air on the main Disney channel?

Gravity Falls got moved to Disney XD before season 2 began, and season 2 is a lot more dark and twisted than the first. The question though, is would season 2 have been too dark to air on Disney's main channel that kids watch?

It did air on the main Disney channel but just weeks or more after the original DXD airing. I watched the whole season 2 on regular Disney.
