The weirdness dimension theory

Ford's theory on Gravity Falls source of its oddities is that it came from another dimension. Has this ever been confirmed if his theory was true or not? Was the weird dimension Bill's dimension, or was it something else entirely outside of Bill's influence, and he was just attracted to it like everything else?

You should get Journal 3, it really expands on the shows mythology.

It's not true. In Journal 3, we learn that it was Bill how gave Ford the idea that the oddities came from another dimension in order to trick Ford into building the portal.

Was the weird dimension Bill's dimension

No. Bill destroyed his own dimension. The portal leads to Bill's current home, the Nightmare Realm, a realm between all dimensions. When things disappear from other dimensions, they tend to end up there. The Nightmare Realm is "lawless, without any consistent physics or rules, it is eventually fated to self-destruct." Which is why Bill was trying escape and take over a new realm.

The True Theory of Weirdness is that Gravity Falls is a weirdness magnet. That weird stuff is just drawn to the area. Outside of that it's not really explained. As stated in "Dipper and Mable vs the Future", Ford doesn't know if the UFO under the town is the source of it or if it was caught in the town's weirdness magnet.
