Dipper's Real Name
Dipper's Real Name is Maynard. Just like their Grunkles, Mabel and Dipper share the first syllable. And the pronunciation of the last syllable in Maynard is actually "Nerd". Kind of goes with Dipper's persona. Any thoughts?

shareThis does make some sense.
Add in the fact that Mabel means "lovable and dear", and Maynard means "strong and brave"
and you might have something there...
It's hot... but not as hot as the night Johnny Viti got married...
Interesting guess, my guesses are:
Mason
Macon
(^Similar to the first part of Mabel's name)
Daniel
Gabel
(^Similar to the second part of Mabel's name, but I think Gabel might be too similar)
And Caleb, just because he kind of looks like a Caleb to me
Some of my guesses there along with Marcel Malichi Murray
If noit using the Letter M Gabriel
A solid possibility. I've seen the possibility of "Marty" mentioned out there, too -- both names have a similarity in that they both begin with an "M" (other sibling pairs similarly begin with same first letter: Alex and his real-life sister Ariel Hirsch, Stanford and Stanley Pines). So the thinking goes, "Marty" would be an homage to Marty McFly from "Back to the Future," which Gravity Falls has already referenced more than once in its episodes. Folks have picked up on the fact that Dipper’s clothes are actually a color reverse of what Marty McFly is wearing -- and that both wear the parka vest. Very interesting....
Some last M's to throw in here
Murdoch Marvin
How abut Ursa Major Pines or Ursa Minor Pines?
Then his name would translate as "big Bear" or "Little Bear", but those constellations are commonly called the big dipper and the little dipper.
Possibly Dipper was named Minor Ursa Pines, since Minor has been used as a personal name - General Minor T. Thomas (1830-1897) is an example.https://www.co.washington.mn.us/DocumentCenter/View/4327
Of course he said that his nickname "dipper" was from the pattern on his forehead, but possibly he didn't want to admit he had such a "puny" and "insignificant" name.
I agree, a 10! You have to watch it multiple times to catch everything Alex included, including the credits. He handled the Stan memory loss by indicating time had passed since Bill's defeat.
I do think Alex Hirsch decided to end the show on a high note, I think he saw how P&F was run into the ground, taken over by others and the finale pitiful. Disney XD ran P&F and GF finales back to back today, no comparison.
Did anyone decode the ending cyphers? It may hold a clue to any future episodes but Dipper's note certainly did.
Alex and his twin are both A's so what do you think Dipper's real name is? Mark, Matt, Mike? Dipper instead of Mikey would make sense.
Alex is moving on to Fox, P&F creators have stayed with Disney creating a Mikey Murphy Law show, let's see who strikes gold again, my bet is with Alex! Great Job Alex, I will miss Dipper and Mabel but you are spot on pulling the show on your timetable. If you can, bring them back leading into their 14th or 15th birthday it would be great, any older, Wendy and the crew will have graduated high school and it wouldn't be the same. Thank you Alex for a great 40 episodes!!
His real name is Mason. Dipper comes from the Little Dipper constellation-shaped birthmark on his forehead.
