I think we should be careful about national stereotyping based on individual movies. Or should we argue that Hollywood isn't creative at all, since most blockbusters these days seem to be "franchise" sequels or remakes of earlier movies? Not to mention that many American movies over the years have drawn inspiration from foreign (particularly British and French) films.

As the saying goes, "Good artists borrow. Great artists steal."
