Just finished the movie. So my two cents?
Alright, when i first heard about the movie, i was interested to say the least. I haven't seen the original "Blade Runner", so my plan was to watch the original, then watch "2049". However, mixed reviews, along with an unimpressive box office didn't make "2049" all that appealing. Alright, box office isn't too big for me, but the reviews from both critics, and audiences were mixed, so i decided to give this a movie a pass until now. When i got the DVD just yesterday, i decided if i was going to review this movie the best way i could, I would have to watch "2049" to see if it stood on its own. So final thoughts? It was amazing in my opinion. I enjoyed the story, the cinematography, the visuals, and the score. I thought the acting was decent, and even liked Jared Leto. (Dear God, i liked Jared Leto in a movie...) If i had more time, i could write a detailed analysis on this movie, but i don't have the time currently. I think the movie definitely had a pacing problem, but that's just my opinion, and it didn't distract me as much. If anything, any other problems i have with the movie are nit-picks (I mean come on, who on Movie Chat nit-pic- i can't even finish that sentence) I'm excited to see what this director does later on in the future, especially hearing about his "Dune" project. I've heard some people say his "Dune" may not happen because of the box office on here, however "Arrival" wasn't a cinematic smash hit either, yet got several Oscars nods, and so did "2049" so studios may still be more willing to give him the money to do "Dune" since his films have been nominated for the biggest prize in Hollywood, and can market that at least. (Hopefully better than the "2049" marketing team did.) But that's just my two cents. Take this with some salt. Thanks for reading for my two cents, and i hope you have a good day.
